I know! The cruise will just seem more real to me when we actually have a room onboard.

I think you are right there. We were GTY for one cruise and it did make a difference. Plus it was a very exciting few days when the rooms were allocated.

Thanks Marilyn! I'll have to seriously give this some consideration!!!! Looks really nice! :thumbsup2

I
What did you think of the movie Karen? I've read all of the books so I know what happens, but I haven't seen the movie yet - I'm hoping to see it this weekend.

I went to see the movie this past Sat. I thought it was great! It's amazing how fast 2 hrs can go! Sad to know the movies are at an end, but I thought this movie was wa-a-a-a-a-ay better than the last one. They went out with a bang (of course....I still wish Harry had ended up with Hermoine, and Ron with.....well......not his sister Jenny! lol)

So you can see where my head is today...:drinking1

Can someone tell me what brands/varieties of draft beer they have on the ship? I prefer draft to cans or bottles when available. ;)

Besides those two "baddies" on Sonoran to avoid, also avoid - the gas station between Hotel Blvd and I-4, across from Crossroads. I think it might be a Sunoco - OUTrageous.

If you just go a little further on Vineland, past the entrance, under the underpass and past the exit, there's a station near the Walgreens at a convenient light that is also reasonable.

i've never really thought about or bothered about gas prices when i'm in orlando. i think its partly because i'm on holiday, and partly because gas over there is still WAY cheaper than the UK, where its about $8.20 a gallon at the moment

. Bluewater seems the best option to meet and they have lots of different bars etc- and a Disney store!:rolleyes1

:thumbsup2 ;)

I have purchased a transfer thru DCL on the 10th. Do you think I could cancel theirs and book with you to take your 2 last spots from airport to pier? What time is the bus leaving?:hippie::cutie:

the bus will be booked to leave approximately 11.45am, and should arrive at the port approx 12.15pm. it will be 10 euros per person. let me know if you would like to join us :)

Yes I'm obsessed. I check for my room assignment at least 5 times daily!
I just like thinking about my location....it makes me happy!;)

i havent been checking my room assignment at all, because i will know when they're out from all the excitement on here!

On white noise, my DH and us are addicted--and I know the irony of this--to the ocean sound on our sound soother/alarm clock we have. It is a travel size and we bring it with us everywhere. We must sleep to the ocean and it serves as a good alarm. Even though we are on the ocean, we need it!

knowing my luck, i'd end up seasick!

Well do to various trips including to DLRP... We are only free on Sat 13 Aug.

any saturday is fine with me, what time would everyone be thinking of? i'll probably ask to work the 6-3pm shift that day so any time close to 3pm would be great

Supposedly they are now required to post their prices outside of those gas stations so you know what you are getting yourself into.

They are required to, but they still don't do it. This station and the one across the street both pay fines every day for not posting it. Actually, one day an artist painted a sign with their prices and stood out by the road, which caused a stir...I guess the manager tried to figure out if he was parked on their property to tow his car, but he is homeless and didn't have one...those stations are horrible!! :scared1:

Calling all Pin Traders!!!!

Some of you may have seen on the Facebook page that there are quite a few pin collectors/traders onboard. It has been mentioned that due to luggage restrictions people don't want to bring all their traders with them so i've created a separate thread just for us to post photos of our pins and agree trades now, so that we only need to bring the pins we've traded onboard with us. Plus it means we won't take over this thread or the facebook page with lots of pin photo's. ;)

Hope to see all you traders there.....http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2762877

I started writing down what I need to pack today...I have NO idea how i'm going to pack all this stuff!! I did get a really cool carry-on today:

15026_2_1
15026_1_3

I wanted a backpack so that I don't have to leave anything at left luggage in London and can just get off my plane, head through customs, and head to the Heathrow Express so that I can do my bus tour since I only have like 9 hours there.

I'm so slacking on the FE front too...usually by now I would have everything done, but I just can't figure out what I want to do this time...

Yeah that's unlike you mary! Last time you were totally done by this point!

Sounds great. I have been to the 3 unesco world heritage sites over 20 years ago. I'm currious how it is now. Stonehedge was then very touristic already but Kew Gardens and Bath I found lovely.
I hope we can talk about it at the cruise.

In 2008 we also visited Blenheim Palace and Bath; last year the Tower of London - so I'm adding 2 more (Kew & Stonehenge) to my "been there" UNESCO list.

I was curious as to how many UNESCO World Heritage Sites I've visited (33); here's the list:

Africa

  1. Dougga/Thugga (Roman Ruins) - Tunisia
  2. Mosi-oa-Tunya/Victoria Falls - Zambia & Zimbabwe
The Americas

  7. Grand Canyon National Park - USA
  8. Great Smokey Mountains National Park - USA
  9. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park - USA
  10. Independence Hall - USA
  11. Monticello & the University of Virginia in Charlottesville - USA

  2. Imperial Palaces of the Ming and Qing Dynasties in Beijing - China
  3. Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor in Xi'an - China
  4. Classical Gardens of Suzhou, Jiangsu - China
  5. Summer Palace - China
  6. Temple of Heaven - China

  10. Tower of London - UK

...I much prefer to walk in London .. the underground is so crowded and grubby and somtimes it takes longer to get down there, wait for a train, board a train, travel, and get out tagin than to walk fro A to B in the first place. If you are only there for 24 hours also the Ho Ho buses are great, as you can travel around London, get off and see the sights etc.

I agree - HOHO for a first and/or one-day visit maximizes seeing the town. Did that the first time I was in London (during a lay-over on the way to Africa).

O what a relieve the reschedulded it before the cruise. Do they give you the results then. I hope that they can do something about it. Good luck with the sleep study.

In the morning, they told me I needed the machine - and which settings.

AuntLynne - You will love the new hotel (Wadorf Astoria). Just stayed there with work. It was amazing. Awesome Shower and a TV in the Bath with you. Every room has a 42inch HD TV and an Apple TV to boot!

Hope you enjoy your time in London. I live about 1 mile from Hampton Court palace. I love it there and please do not forget Bushy park it is massive!

Glad to hear positive words about the hotel - I figured a new Waldorf-Astoria hotel should be nice, but you never know. My DB & SIL stayed at the Grand Wailea last year and found the guests to be rather grumpy - I said it was probably people who have so much money that they are "bored" with their many vacations. Not us; we are excited when we find a good deal (or loyalty point rooms for the Grand Wailea). And put us on Club/Concierge level and we are thrilled. I've never traveled for business, so I appreciate any special treatment.

I need to find a good small fan that will travel, too. Neither of us can sleep in silence - it really is deafening. We have to have background noise! Need to test out the ones at Target to see if they are loud enough to make a difference.

We have friends who take a sound machine everywhere. We were going to buy one but my iPad has an application now on there for the same. It sounds quite good actually. Haven't used it yet as I use ear plugs anyway because John snores soooo loud.:headache: Ear plugs are great!!:thumbsup2

I quite like a fan noise unless the fan has a slight regular change in the sound and then that can be much worse .

There are quite a few " White noise" apps for I- devices, just check search "White Noise" in the app shop.

I have several free ones, rainstorms, waterfalls, wind chimes.......

Most have a in built timer that turns them off automatically after a set time.

Some of the Paid apps allow you create your own noise by recording it and then playing it back on a loop, so if you miss your neighbours dog howling while you are away on the cruise, now you can take it with you...

The howling sound, not the actual dog ;)

That'd quite an impressive list!
I managed three which is three more than I thought I'd have!

Hmm, somehow i dont think I'll miss next door's dog barking at 6am, or the annoying kid on a really loud scooter driving past my window. Might give that app a miss ;)

Karen Tan do you sell this bag at your Disney store, it seems to only be available in the UK. I'm considering using it as a camera bag for my SLR and I need to know if the bag is made out of a strong enough fabric. All my research hasn't discovered whether it is fabric or some kind of plastic. Thanks for any help you can offer :flower3:

The test is actually next week, then I'll be on the CPAP machine for about a month before the Sept 1 appointment. The machine records all kinds of information and the doctor can download it from the SD card and determine if the current settings are working or if they need to be adjusted.
