NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

NO, NO, NO, NO, NO. THIS IS NOT HAPPENING!!!!

I just spent HOURS yesterday afternoon and this evening getting the FE lists split into sub groups and now the file is GONE. I had already saved it on a USB drive (along with all my other cruise-related files), in fact, I saved it multiple times as I worked on it, just so I wouldn't lose my changes.

I finished it a few minutes ago, went to save it before closing, and my computer make that nasty little "error" noise and gave me some message about a corrupt table (WHAT??), the disk drive door being open (WHAT DOOR?? It's a laptop!) and reinserting the disk before trying again (IT'S A USB - THERE IS NO DISK!!). I've never seen anything like that before.

Then it told me to close and re-open the file using "open and repair," but when I went to open it again - IT WAS GONE!!! I tried a search of the whole computer for the file, but... nothing.

It was finished. Everyone assigned to groups. Extra spaces for new people. All the counts worked out - people per group, multiple list people, everything within everyone's requested limits... and it's gone.:sad::sad:

I think I need some chocolate. Or scotch.

Take both.
Have you found anything back yet? So you can't get it from your usb-stick?
It is probebly somewere on your computer, but it is hiding. Do you have tried to search recent opened files.
Good luck with it. I would I could help you.

so morrisons IS open now then?!

That's the latest word! From a few sources at Morrisons...but we heard from a few that they were closed yesterday, so who knows? At least we have the Pingo Doce in Madeira as a back up if all else fails!! :goodvibes

mary, i just assumed tim couldnt get the time off work, i didnt realise he didnt WANT to come! oh well, you can have a great time and then he'll realise what he missed out on!

Oh, he just can't relax for that long!! I think he got it from his dad...he seems to be missing the relax gene or something!! :lmao:

Sooo sorry Pat .. I feel your pain. I often have a love/hate thing going on with my puter

Thanks for the comments, it is beautiful and green, but thats because of all the rain we get :teacher: LOL

I will answer any questions gladly , as long as there are none about "The Leprechauns" . Have to keep the little folk a secret you undersatand pirate:

I understand about the rain ... it's what makes Oregon green too :thumbsup2 I have an ancestor on my mother's side who was a Spanish noblewoman, that gave up her riches, and moved to Ireland to marry a poor Irish lad. (ah, those dark haired, blue eyed boys) I've always been moved by that story and would love to visit Ireland.

Right ok, I am just off the phone again with Head Office and the person spoke to the Manager of the Gibraltar Store - Gary Chance and he has confirmed that they will definitely be open on the 12th September.

I don't know about anyone else but I am still not 100% sure!!!!

:dance3::dance3: Hooray, I hope it's true.

I have the theme from Benny Hill in my head :rotfl::rotfl2:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: ... now I do too ...

Oh, he just can't relax for that long!! I think he got it from his dad...he seems to be missing the relax gene or something!! :lmao:

:laughing: My FIL was missing that gene too, thank goodness his son inherited it from his Mom ;)

must be sunny again - only one post in the last hour and a half! :rotfl:

i'd like some sun for my day off on friday, but according to the forecast thats unlikely to happen :(

Take both.

Never got it back. It just seemed to disappear from my USB drive. I tried a couple of full-system searches, but nothing.

Fortunately, and I realized this after I finished my little fit, I coded the group people were assigned to on my master list for about 2/3 of the participants. So I was able to work backwards through that to reconstruct the groups. Took about 2 hours, but it's done - without having to start from square one. It's also backed up in a couple of places.

Hey, I just noticed something. We have at least 4 "Pats" on the trip. How many "Karens" are there, again? Maybe we should have a "who has the most of their name" contest. :rotfl:

Spoke to a friend who lives in Gib. He told me the following:

"As Monday is our National Holiday most local stores will be closed. The tourist locations will be open on our main strip but most stores shopped by locals will not. You had mentioned buying wine at the port in Barcelona last time....Is that not a choice for you?"

Sounds to me as though Morrison's may be a REAL roll of the dice should they say open and only be found to be closed.

On our 2007 WBTA on the Magic we purchased all of our wine and alcohol for the cruise at a shop directly beside the ship. The prices were exceptional.....much cheaper than here in the US.

Does anyone know if this location is still open and available for this year?

Thanks

:rotfl:
i've emailed them to try and book the 9am one - we're planning on going to maho afterwards, wanna share a cab?
!

the guide/transport is provided by twin island excursions, i could contact them and get a price for transport to horseriding going on to maho beach ?? i see pat and mary are also interested, anyone else is quite welcome to join us too:thumbsup2

Just a heads-up.... I wanted to reiterate that going from catamaran to beach involves SWIMMING (as seen in pics of catamarans sprinkled in the bay) and not a DOCK. I updated the front page yesterday, but wanted to make sure everyone knows in case you might have mobility challenges. Tortola Charters could answer any direct questions you might have - and I can email them if needed. :thumbsup2 Most catamarans have a dinghy they pull for things like that.

this isnt a problem for us mandy but any tips you have for us with taking ellie
ashore would be gratefully received:thumbsup2 she does love the water but at 8 months i dont think im going to get her swimming by then:rotfl2:

:

For me personally, anything but Herseys. ;)

ditto:sad2:

if this was only chocolate in the world id be a size zero

This is what I want to do - ride in the morning and go to Maho in the afternoon to watch the planes and hang on the fence.:

brian will be hanging alongside you pat, but definately not for me:scared1:
i will be happy to watch:rotfl:

There was an alcohol shop inside the terminal open last September. Perhaps Mary will have noticed if it was still open before her Med cruise.

I made a deposit for the 9am group ride. I also put in that I want to use their transport from the ship. I'd like to go to Marigot to do a bit of shopping, too. I was thinking if the planes land more in the afternoon, I could go to Marigot after riding, then hit Maho. Or am I trying to do too much?

So funny story. I bought my pink feather boa's for the Champagne Girls meet a few months ago and they have been sitting in the bottom of my closet in plastic bags. Saturday morning I go in my closet to put laundry away and there is my black and white kitten covered in pink feathers having a blast with my now completly shredded boas. DH and I had a good laugh. Figaro just looks at us like "what, why are you laughing at me". Needless to say it took forever to clean up all the feathers and now I have to buy new ones. I guess I need a new place to put them.

awwww cute .... did you take any pics?

Thought I would share a funny story after reading the comments about being prepared. My wife worked for like 2 weeks before our cruise last year, ensuring we had everything packed, she unpacked and repacked multiple times to ensure we had everything. Well first night, I took a shower to freshen up, checked the bags and lo and behold, I had no drawers. In all of her packing/unpacking she accidently removed them and never put them back. Needless to say Disney made a fortune on their 20 dollar boxers in the gift shop last year.

As a side note, when we returned, all of my drawers were waiting patiently for me on our bed...

So there is a chance you could overprepare lol....

Oh no ..... that would be a disaster if it happened to me ... I have never seen any female underwear in the shops on the ship :scared1:

I think I'll get that dress... I would LOVE to walk down that staircase in it!

QUESTION: Ladies, when you're on a cruise with more than one formal night, do you wear the same dress twice or do you bring two? Do you tend to go more "all out" for the first one?

Also, do you get your hair done?

That is a stunning dress :thumbsup2 I tend to bring a different dress for each formal night. :thumbsup2

I've started compiling a list of clothes that I would like to take on the cruise and I've noticed I have a lot of white items I've been putting down. My question is (and I'm sure it's a southern regional thing)...do a lot of women wear white on the WBTA? I'm not talking about white shirts.....but sandals, pants, skirts, etc. In the south, you grew up with the tradition of not wearing white shoes before Memorial Day (end of May) and not wearing them after Labor Day (first week-end of Sept.). I figure going on a cruise would be different, but then I'm not sure of what the temperature is like crossing the Atlantic during the middle of Sept. Just an idle thought and thought some of you experienced "cruise fashionistas" could shed light on this for me! :confused3:confused3 Still going to wear white but maybe not as much depending on the temperatures. Thanks for your help on this "earth shattering" issue! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I wear a lot of white and will be bringing a white skirt ot 2, white linen pants, white tops etc. I think it is definitely a suitable colour for the tropics !!

I bring two formal dresses for this cruise. Second, since I do a Brazilian blowout, I do NOT get my hair done on the cruise.

I remember the discussion this prompted last time Noel .... when we all thought you were having a special hair wax treatment :rotfl2:

just rang and was told they are closed, they have had quite a few enquiries lol, told them they will be loosing a lot of money if they stay shut

:scared1::scared1::scared1: oh dear thats not good ..... I had it when good plans go to pot

12-Metre Regatta

I was sad that I couldn't get this activity on St Maarten when Gold booking opened; I wondered if the Platinum and Concierge cruisers all wanted to do it.

So I emailed the company and found out that they do not sail August - October due to maintenance and hurricane season.

We did it last September ...... maybe that is just for this year then :confused3

Just another interesting twist to our excursion! Guess I will definitely have to buy a waterproof camera or buy a waterproof cover for my camera and shorts/cover-up! I think that will be fun! I wonder how far it is to shore from catamaran?

Better start looking for a water-tight bag to store my beach clothes / towel / camera etc in.

We'll be scoping out El Corte Ingles as well. I wonder if they are open late so we could go after the HRC meetup?

Edit: I just looked myself and they are open until 10:00pm.

ahhhhhh plan B --- Hard Rock then booze shopping :thumbsup2 Thanks for that :thumbsup2

Oh no - what a nightmare you poor thing. :sad1::sad1::sad1: That is so frustrating and annoying and every other negative word you can think of. Sending :hug: and a virtual bottle of scotch :sad1:

Hi there,
I am sailing with you on the WBTA, I have done several crusies, one EBTA last year but not on DCL. I am going solo, flying from Chicago to Barcelona on the 7th. Do you know of anyone who is looking for a room mate for a couple of days before the cruise. I am a retired Airline employee so have booked through my pass department. I have not been assigned a cabin yet, but its Cat. 5 balcony. My DD clued me in to the theard, it had not crossed my mind. I only booked a few days ago. I am getting soooo excited.

WElcome aboard. We are Sarah and Tony from Wales ... on our 2nd WBTA !!

I wish they would make up their bl**dy minds ( sorry ):mad:

Looks like a lot of rain all over. That is a shame.:sad2:

It will definitely rain because we have arranged a family and friends BBQ to give DD a bit of a send off for Florida. That just about guarantees rain .. sorry :sad2:
