We're taking the kids out for our Sept. 09 Trip. Yes, I feel bad about it, but it's always worked out fine for us. If you talk to the school ahead of time, get the kids work and keep them up to date, I think it's fine. I know this is not always the popular thing to do, but you have to do what's best for you.

We booked bounceback free dining ASMu for September 2009!! I booked the 19th thru October 3rd, but will probably be going the 26-3rd is my guess. Already starting to look at menu's for next year!! Can't wait.

This may not be the correct answer for everyone, but coming from a mom of 4 grown, happy, successful kids....don't worry too much about taking your kids out of school occasionally for a family trip. Building strong family bonds can be just as important, if not more important than a week of school. Those strong family ties will be what bring your kids home to YOU to talk with their problems. Those family bonds will be what keep them on the straight and narrow path as teenagers facing decisions. I'm not advocating taking the kids out of school often, or for every little thing. But a family vacation is not a little thing. It is an opportunity to spend time with your kids away from the chaos of everyday life. It is a time to show one another you care. Plan ahead, incorporate learning experiences into your trip and ENJOY your family.

I almost had to cancel vacation. The store manager where I work and I both go to Disney every year. He has DVC. Before leaving this year I made sure to check with him so I could book bounceback. No problem his trip is in April. About 15 minutes before I left for my vacation (stay at home one) yesterday, he tells me there is a DVC cruise that he's booked. I ask when and he tells me (in his own words) "The week you usually go to Disney" :eek:

I was ready to kill him.

We really need the free dining to be able to afford the trip. Now not only can two managers not go on the same week, they can not go on consecutive weeks. Labor Day week and the week prior are blacked out due to back to school shoppers. OK now I'm running out of weeks I can take and still fall under free dining. :sad:

I called this morning and a very helpful was able to help me switch to Sept 26- Oct 4. Still free dining and he said the Food and Wine Festival will most likely be going on then. He did not have exact dates, but that's about when it starts up. :yay:

So now I have free dining and F&W. I'll have to title my trip report "More Stuffed Than a Thanksgiving Turkey" popcorn::

Just booked 9/26-10/3/09 at the Polynesian! I'm so excited I don't know how I can wait that long!!! :woohoo:

We booked the bounceback free dining, Sept 20-26, 2009. First time we have gone for free dining, second time in Sept. Right now we are booked as a party of 6, but may end up with only a party of 2 to 3, but we will be going no matter what portion we have to change :rotfl:
