Separate room/resort for child turning 18 right before vacation! How to book?

Hi all! We are visiting WDW in 2020 and one of the reasons is to celebrate my oldest son's high school graduation. He will not turn 18 until July and our trip is in Sept. We are doing a split stay and for the second half of the stay 5 of us are going to Yacht Club and I would like to book my son his own room at All Star Movies.
Since he will not turn 18 until right before the trip how would I go about making his reservation? I presumably can't book a second room under my own name right?
I tried to call WDW to ask this but they have a long wait time at the moment so I figured surely disboards could help!

He will need to be 18 to stay in a room as the sole person in the room or as the oldest person in the room. Why would you book a room so far from your room all by himself?

If he will be 18 when he checks in, he'll just need a driver's license for proof of age. You can use your credit card to reserve the room.

Honestly....cost is the reason we are booking him at a value. Additionally we aren’t 100% sure he will end up in the room as his dad may be booking a campsite and letting him stay there with him. Since we are using a military discount we don’t want to dedicate to a much more expensive deluxe room at BC only for him to not stay with us. Military discount rooms book up quickly so we likely wouldn’t be able to change it closer to he trip.
Hope that makes sense. It’s been a dilemma deciding what to do!
He has stayed at WDW many times before, including a band trip where he navigated the transportation and parks alone. He’s a mature kid so I have no qualms about him staying alone.
He turns 18 two months before the trip so it won’t be any issue for him to prove his age.
My issue is that I’m unable to reserve a room while he is 17 under his name. So I’d be unable to book his room until right before the trip.

Just in case someone searches for this same thing....I just ended up calling Disney and waiting on hold to ask this question. The cast member said he can book the room as long as he turns 18 before check in. When I asked how I would book it online he said to omit the age when booking but since I already have him linked on my Disney experience (he has his own account from previous trips) with his age I am not able to do it.
So it CAN be done but it has to be done by calling!

Have you priced out the swolphin? It is next to the yacht club and there can be decent rates.
