Sep. or Dec., I really could use some advice!

kldmom2000, once upon a time we could only dream too. One day it will be YOU!:thumbsup2

Hopefully it will not be under the same circumstances as these trips though. My husband, who has always been the healthy one, was diagnosed with some serious problems. He immediately requested a Christmas visit (which I was not able to book on such short notice) so this is his 'last' request. Hopefully he is wrong, as he soooo often is. :)

I hope to survive it all as guess who does all the packing, driving, figuring out where the money comes from etc. I so look forward to seeing those arches, breathing a sigh of relief and living in "Fantasyland" for awhile.

I think what everyone is forgetting here is that that while September is very hot, it is one of Disney's slow times of the year. Also, the park hours are still very late and there is no day light savings issue. We took advantage of late night hours and went to the parks first thing in the morning, came back at 1-2pm for a swim and nap and back out again around 5pm until 11pm. It was wonderful. I don't want to go to Disney when the parks close at 6-7pm and I definitely don't want to go when I have to wear a jacket or chose NOT to go on Splash Mountain for fear of freezing. I prefer longer days and lounging by the pool or sleeping in the A/C during peak hot and humid hours. I think all of you changing your reservations will regret it if a cold front moves in December. I remember my parents went the 2nd week of December and had jeans and jackets on - no thanks!!

I totally agree with you. I personally would prefer to go in September because I don't like to freeze at Disney either. (I have gone at both times, so I know how iffy December can be) Only reason I changed to December is because my friend has rheumatoid arthritis and she is afraid the heat would cause too much of a flare up in her condition. I guess it was either change it to December or cancel it entirely.

I've got to tell this part . . . just yesterday I was able to have Animal Kingdom Lodge Villa points transferred to my DVC account from a wonderful diser and actually got a studio for 12/09 to 12/15 at AKL/AKV. That kind of takes the edge off having to go in December, wouldn't you say. ;) We can add the DDP to our room (as a DVC member) and the cost is actually less than if I was paying rack rate for AKL for the free dining. :cloud9: I usually don't have this kind of luck.

We went to Disney last year in both Sept. and December. We went Dec 6 - 11. Disney was packed that week. When we went in September, everything was pretty much a walk on. Yes, it was hot mid day. We enjoyed swimming at that time. It was nice at night. We would leave the hotel around 4 in the afternoon and stay at the parks until they closed. For me, I would rather deal with the heat than a big crowd. I was very suprised with the December crowd. I had always heard the crowds were low. That was not the case for us. Kids are still in school during that time but they were everywhere in the world. Don't get me wrong, I would love disney anytime of the year. I really enjoyed September. (It did not rain the entire time in Sept. It rained 2 days while we were there in December)
