Sensors in room for AC

I just returned from the Poly and wanted to give a heads up on that sensor that only turns the AC on when there is movement in the room. Last trip we were not happy when we awoke in the middle of the night hot. After reading the DIS I found that there is a way to bypass the sensor. On this trip I called maintenance immediately and someone came right over to show me how to do it. He said that you can bypass it anytime and they get a lot of requests for it. So here is the way to do it: On the thermostat push the power button and the down arrow(that adjusts the temp) at the exact same time. If you do this correctly there will be the letters "bp" where the temp numbers usually are. You are now bypassing the sensors in the room. You can then set the temp to whatever you want and it keeps the room that cold whether you are in it or not. He, the maintenance CM, then said that you might have to do this once a day as the thermostat tends to go back to sensor mode after 24 hours. We found that it stayed on bypass for a couple of days at a time. It was great to come back to a cold room or not wake up in the middle of the night in a sweat again. The CM that did this for us said it was nop problem doing this as they do it for people all the time. Guess they get a lot of complaints.

Thank you so much...I had read about the AC's and was worried for our upcoming trip to CR! I can now be cool when I sleep!

Oh man - I wish i knew about that. On our trip we would freeze the room when we went to bed and then shed covers as the night went on!!

:p

Thanks for the tip--I like the room COLD when I sleep, LOL! I wonder if the thermostat works the same at some of Disney's other resorts.

The CM said it depends on the thermostat whether this can be done. Some of the older ones cannot be changed. Just try it out and if you can't do then call the maintenance people and have them help you out.

Thanks for the tip- I just printed this thread and stuck it in my passporter for my trip to the Poly this December.

They must not have the sensors at CBR, we stayed there this past May and it was cold whenever we came back to the room and all through the night. -Stephanie

I think it is the best one posted anywhere! I was half tempted to bring a screw driver in Nov. I understand Disney trying to save on A/C but the nights were so hot...........Thank you so much.....
