Great trip report so far.
I love your tye dye pirate shirts, did you make them???

We did make our shirts. Our Disboard group ordered Black and white shirts to wear on the cruise. I did not want a black shirt and wasn't sure I wanted totally white. So we tie-dyed them and then ironed on the design.

We're doing fine. Having some Mouse withdrawal, so currently trying to figure out when we can go do to DL to see everything done up for Xmas.

Most of these were taken with a 3 year old Sony DSC-h1. I did get an Olympus 1030SW before this trip. To take underwater pictures with. As it is waterproof to 33ft. Due to my foot injury it did not get used as much as I thought it would. Although I used it a bunch at Castaway Cay.

So after dinner we headed to Rockin' Bar D. I think the Leonard Brothers were still playing or had just finished up, as our dinner took awhile. David was Rockin' Bar D host and DJ Dan was playing the music this cruise. Both were on our previous September cruises. Tonight was Ice breaker games. Well they wanted teams of 5 up front so Stephen and I went up front.

The first game was threading a spoon, through all of your team members clothing. First round our team was first done. We had a pretty good strategy, but I am not sharing what it was. Second round was other teams, then they brought the winning teams up to compete. Our team won again. It was about this point that David realized that our team won with someone on crutches.

Next round was everyone got a balloon and they had to pop it on a chair. I participated in this round as well. This is easier said then done with a broken foot.

Last round I sat out, as it involved walking while holding a coin somewhere. There was a cas tmember team. I sat this game out.

After the fun games. DJ Dan played music till 2am. I was sitting, David came over and told me if I can play the games I should not let my crutches and sore foot prevent me from dancing or having a good time. Let's just say I had a blast and stayed out till the music stopped every night. I had cast members and other guests stopping me all over the place. Before the second day of the cruise I was dubbed party animal by some cast members. It was quite amusing.

I think lots of people thought I was going to spend my cruise sitting on my butt relaxing or in my room. I was out and about all over the ship. Got involved in lots of things.

When we headed back to the room, this is what greeted us. It was the first of many towel animals. I do not think we had a duplicate the entire cruise.

Monday, August 18, 2008 Sea Day

Today we got up and headed to The Buena Vista Theater at 10am for a presentation by John Rowe. He has created lots of art work for Disney. I would love to own a John Rowe original.

Here is a sampling of his work

He answered questions while he worked on his artwork. He actually uses an airbrush system for most of his work.

He was going to be creating throughout his few days on the ship, so you could get closer to see him work.

After the presentation, we headed up to Topsiders, for a quick late breakfast

After our breakfast, we headed to the Panama Canal Presentation by Capt. Ken Puckett in the WD theater

This presentation was very good and informational. I knew some of the information as I had read a bunch about the PC. But a lot was first stuff I did not know.

We headed up to deck 9 and grabbed lunch or more like mid-afternoon snack at Pluto's

We headed to the WD theater for the Golden Mickey's on our way their we went through the main atrium. They were having the Captain's welcome reception. So we got drinks on the way to the show.

Yes, I am holding both glasses in one hand and took the picture with the other hand.

We ended up with even more drinks before the show. I do not know if the CM's felt bad for me or what.

We headed to the theater. We met Claire, she let us to the bottom of the theater.

We headed to John Charles family show. We had seen him on our 07 cruise and I loved him. He did not disappoint

After the show we headed to our room to change for dinner. It was formal night. We stopped for a few pictures on our way to dinner

We headed to dinner. Tonight we were in Lumiere's. A few of our table mates did not show up to dinner. We were not sure if they were at Palo or had changed seating.

We happened upon a glimpse of the Golden Mickey's after party, although it was almost over since our dinner took so long

The Leonard Brothers were performing yet when we got to Rockin B D. They were playing later probably due to the GM party. Did I tell you how much I loved this band. They were just awesome.

After the Leonard Brothers, Ron Pearson was performing. He was pretty funny, I enjoyed his show

After Ron, the Leonard brothers performed some more and DJ Dan played some tunes. Eventually we headed up to deck 9 and 10.

We finally headed back to our room at who knows what time. We had a frog waiting for us.

Sidenote. We stored the wheelchair in our room at the bottom of the bed. We could have probably left it in the hallway as we saw other wheelchairs there. However we did not want to add another obstacle to the already narrow hallways. Although we did happen to have a wider portion of the hallway, which was good as every time we came to the room we did not bring it inside.

Cabos San Lucas

So today I was worried about, as this was the only port that we we certain we had to tender. Which means you transfer from your ship to a smaller boat to dock. In Cabo it is necessary due to the rocks and reefs. But I'll get to that eventually.

We got up and grabbed breakfast at Topsiders. We sat outside on the back deck. It was basically empty as most people had probably left the ship.

After breakfast, we headed off the ship.

Now I knew I had done steps at Disneyland, so I was not worried about the steps. Although I kind of was as when the ship is anchored in the water it still moves and the tender boat moves as well. I ended up successfully walking down the steps and onto the boat.

We had talked about getting on a boat over to one of the beaches, but we decided to just walk around instead. As maneuvering on the beach would not be super easy for me. Although maneuvering the streets and sidewalks was probably not any easier. I was hopping in and out of the wheelchair all the time due to no cut outs in sidewalks, or ramps not really being wheelchair accessible. Most of the stores had one step up to get into. It was not easy but we made it work.

There was lots of cobblestone, that shook my whole body when driving over, it is not wheelchair friendly

We found a small bottle of vanilla first. As they only had that. So we bought it. We later found a liter of vanilla, so we bought that as well. We ended up leaving with 4 necklaces. Plus a xmas ornament.

I was also worried about climbing back up the steps, but did so without any issues and made it safely back on the ship.

Once back on the ship, we dropped our stuff back in the room and headed to find some food

Before long it was time to leave Cabo, waiting to sail away

We headed to the WD theater for Ron Pearson's show

So Ron balanced the stool on his chin and juggled some clubs, he gave Stephen a hard time because he was not clapping. So Ron asked him what would make him clap, so he said balance the ladder on your chin and juggle. He told Stephen that he better clap for him this time. There were some kids in front of us who later asked was told ahead of time to say it.

We went and played the Wheel in Diversions. It is like Wheel of Fortune. Then we went and changed for dinner. Tonight we were in Animator's Palate. It was show night.

Wednesday, August 20, 2008 Puerto Vallarta

So we slept in today. As we really did not have any plans for Puerto Vallarta. We got up and grabbed some food.

As always, they were cleaning the ship to make it pretty for all the webcams and pictures to come during the PC

Eventually we headed off the ship. The ramp off the ship in some of these ports was very steep.

$28000 TV anyone?? Ok, seriously it is in Pesos but it looks like dollars

The coveted Wii Fit, I had been looking all over for one and I finally found them in Mexico, although I did not buy it here. But they had a lot As it would not have fit in my luggage to go home

We found the Rum. This bottle was at least 24 inches high, it was huge. We contemplated buying, but knowing my klutziness decided we should not buy a huge glass bottle of alcohol

Then we headed to the mall

We should have brought the laptop to the mall as Starbucks had free internet access

Then we headed to the WD Theater for Los Caporales Folkloricos. They were alright, it just really is not my thing. But I enjoyed it for the cultural experience, but I would not pay to see a Mariachi band.
