Send luggage with ME but use other transport to MCO???

I just saw in the PassPorter newsletter that ME will leave FOUR hours prior to your flight to allow enough time for security checks. What if you don't want to leave that early? Is it possible to send your luggage and just not get on the bus?

Yes you can, if you are flying a participating airline and only on the trip from the resort to MCO.

If you use a participating airline you can check in for your flight and check your luggage at your WDW resort and then either take ME or make your own arrangements to MCO. If you are not flying a participating airline you must take your bags with you either on to the ME bus or with you if you make other arrangements.

I can't remember all the participating airlines, for a list and more information there is a sticky on the top of this board.

FWIW - ME picked us up 3 hours prior to our flight and we needed every minute of it. The security lines were outrageous at MCO and this was before the recent scare and increased restrictions with carry on luggage.

Everyone should understand that the baggage checkin at your resort, if you are flying out on the 'participating' airlines, is not DME. It is a completely separate entity. Anyone can use it...as long as you are on one of the specified airlines. You can even use it if you are using a towncar service, or even renting a car....makes no difference.
Also, DME is now picking up 3 hrs before flight departures again. That is what they are telling everyone. Yes, it was 4 hrs after the London incident, but they have returned to their original timing. If anyone has used it recently and has had a different experience, please let us know.
