I have a bunch of pants/shorts/tops mainly Gap and J. Crew. They are not specifically jr. sized, rather sizes 2 and 4.
Has any one sold to Plato's Closet? What prices on average did you receive for your goods? Are they easy to deal with?

Thanks.

They are very very picky about what they take. And they will only take current styles and brands. The clothes must show no sign of wear and tear and look brand new. The items must be freshly washed. They give you 20% of what they plan on selling the item for. (if I remember correctly) they are very easy to deal with when you know how they operate. The first time or two can be frustrating because they might not accept items you thought were perfectly fine.

I've sold to them locally proably 20 times, and shop there as well. I like them for both ends of the sales.

My teenager has sold at Plato's Closet. It is very easy to do - just bring your clothes in and they will sort through them. They can be very picky on what they choose - the clothes have to be clean, name brand and in trend with the season. Usually we stay in the store and shop while they sort our stuff, so it doesn't take too long. I think we got about $25 for some camis, a few tops, a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt, if I remember right.

My daughters have sold to them before. It is ok, but they really don't offer very much, even for great stuff! We've taken AE jeans, GAP, Express, etc...you know all the stuff teenagers wear and some have even still had tags. They use a process where they look the items up. We ended up selling anyway just so we didn't have the hassle but be prepared to still bring items back home they don't want.

One of my daughters had what I considered and ugly sweater dress but still had tags and it got a lot more than the new AE jeans.

I don't know their methods to inventory.....

My stuff is in like new condition. I have tried to sell it on Ebay, but no luck. I just need to get rid of a lot. Would keep it if I could get rid of this baby weight. lol.

They have a database of what items were worth new, they deduct 70% of the value (which is their retail price) and give you 30% of that.
Example- $100 jeans new are now worth $30 and you get $9.

Historical sales will factor into that as well and may skew the % up or down.

Though we have a PC in the area, I do my swapping and shopping at Buffalo Exchange. The same basic idea, but from what I've experienced Buffalo Exchange has a wider range of styles and brands. I've found a lot more high end pieces at BE (I bought some Vivienne Westwood this week!) and they accept vintage too. When I first started shopping at Plato's Closet years ago I got some great deals, but the quality went downhill fast while their prices went up (who buys a used Old Navy shirt for $9!?!)

We got $27 for a huge box of stuff, lots of nwt including brand new shoes. I could have made double at a garage sale. We got pretty good prices on new things, but our new neighboorhood does not allow garage sales.

They give you pretty much nothing for your clothes...but if you have nothing else to do with them, then try them out. I usually take stuff there...see what they will buy, then donate or give away the rest. We never come out with tons of money from them.
Once Upon A Child, though, tends to give me more money for my younger kids stuff.
