Has anyone actually made money with this? How much did you sell? I really need to make some extra cash and have some old necklaces and charms just laying around.

I have made about $500 just selling old stuff from my jewelry box (think...80s high school bling ) alot of it broken chains, random charms, big big hoops...

Yep. I picked up 1100 bucks a couple of weeks ago on some old stuff. I went to my local jeweler and brought lots of old hoop earrings that I had with broken clasps, tons of old gold bangles that where popular in the 80's.

This is going to be a really dumb question but, my mom died 7 years ago and I still have her jewelry box. In it were a bunch of random things, earrings, necklaces, etc. A few thinks I've looked and have seen where it says "10K" etc. so I know it's gold. But what about earrings that are gold looking but no numbers like that on it? Should I assume that means it's just the cheap stuff they sell that's not real gold? Or should I just take it all and see?

There is a chemical test they can do if there are no markings. I just sold an 18k bracelet that didn't have any markings. At first the buyer said it was gold plated, but I was insistent. He did the chemical test that verified it was real, and he paid me $600 for it. You have to be careful though, because he explained to me that if they do the test and the jewelry isn't real gold, it will leave a stain on it.

there is a place next to maple motors on main street in hendersonville. the guy stands by the road holding a sign all the time. he is the most trusted in town. my dad knows him.

DH sold an 18K gold chain last Saturday and got $155. It wasn't very big/thick at all. Now we're searching through all our other stuff looking for more!
