I want to buy a new toy. LOL. a new digital SLR camera. but before I can buy one I have to sell my old cameras, I really can't justify it otherwise.

So for those of you who sell online alot, do you prefer Ebay or Craigslist. I never listed on either one.

Pros and cons.

Thanks,

Cameras are rapidly depreciating assets and the camera companies are always coming up with new and improved models. You will be lucky to get 50% of what you paid. If you try to sell it I would first start by looking at ebay completed listings and see what the going rate is for your camera.

I've sold on both.

Craigslist:

Pros - FREE!!!!
Cons - much smaller market (local only) / You have to deal face-to-face with people (I've had them show up way late; try to change the agreed upon price; etc...)

Ebay:

Pros - MUCH wider audience so I usually get more money
Cons - NOT free / you have to ship

If it's a large item or not worth much, I'll sell on Craigslist. If it's a more expensive or smaller item I sell on Ebay. I've done close to 1000 auctions on Ebay and have had less than 5 "issues", none of which resulted in negative feedback for me (things like buyers remorse where I refunded money).

For a camera, I'd search the completed Ebay listings and decide if it is even worth selling. Typically, I sell smaller, easier to ship things on Ebay and larger, harder to ship things on Craigslist.
