Hello, just registrerd with self trade as I thought I would take advantage of the fall in the market and buy my eurodisney shares!!

They are retailing at 7.50 ut I cant work the self trade webiste .... can anyone give me a step by step on buying the shares I'm logged in my account.

Thanks!!!!

The office is closing in 10 mins ..... I think the website might be faulty because of what is happening in the stock market.

I think I am sorted now... the site has sorted itself out but I can only buy during market hours so I hope they dont go up tomorrow!

Right I've bought my shares - how long does it take for them to appear on my account???

I've considered buying shares several times, for the discounts alone (might mean we can avoid renewing our APs next year), is this the best way of doing it?

How feasible would it be to have this all sorted within a month, for our trip to DLP?

How old do you have to be to buy them? Just wondering if it would make more sense to buy them in DD's name, if that's possible (she is 16).

Finally can someone remind me how many you need to be in the shareholders club, is that lifetime membership, and what was the alternative again?

Salon Mickey sounds like a great perk! :thumbsup2

Right I must be a right dummy as I cant get this to work

I am now registered and this mornning (during trading hours) and I clicked on buying 5 shares for a maximum of £50, this was accepted and it said I should get message in my inbox within the next few hours ..... I have heard nothing!!

There is also no message anywhere to say this is being processed??? Any help would be great, otherwise I will have to phone up in the middle of my work office and everyone will know I'm buying eurodisney shares :scared1:

Did you have sufficient money in your account when you did the trade? When I first did it I didn't and they completely ignored my request to purchase. I deposited enough money, did it again and it was completed within a few minutes. (Then I withdrew the extra!)

Aha!! I though they asked for the money afterwards! Great thanks I will put in £50, the rate has gone down since this morning so hopefully it will stay like that for tomorrow morning :goodvibes

Okay, I've done some research myself, which has answered some of my questions but not all of them. I can't seem to find out a minimum age, but more worryingly it appears that once you send off the documentation for the membership card it takes 6 weeks to come back! Since we go in about 5 weeks, I don't think we have time to sort this out, would it really take this long? :sad2:

Iread on the disney website you can get a temp letter if you need it- I would email the shareholders club, they could either speed up the delivery of the card or send you a temp letter.

I emailed them to ask about the progress of my application and got a really quick reply and a temporary membership letter through the post just a few days later.

Thank you so, so much, both of you! I missed that gemmybear83, though I did see a freephone number, and had planned to call that and ask how long it really took. I might still call and ask if shares could be in DD's name, since I think she would benefit from being a member more than I would long term.

Can anyone tell me how long it takes to get the shares, if you go though Selftrade? (seems to be the best way to go)

I will let you know I'm going to give it another go now!!!!

Okay, I have spoken to selftrade, the lady was so helpful I found!

Basically, you have to be over 18 to buy shares through them, and sadly I wouldn't be able to transfer them over to her once she was 18, as you can only do that with spouses if they are foreign stock. I'd have to look into buying shares elsewhere if I wished to do that.

DD and I have talked it over and decided that probably the best option for us is for me to buy just 5 shares in my name, then pay the €33 membership fee, which would cover us for the next two years. Then, at this point, if she so desires she will be 18 and can buy her own shares.

Before I jump in, I want to speak to the shareholder helpline and ask how we pay the membership fee, also I need to know where Selftrade need to send the letter confirming I own the shares, if the contract note is not sufficient.

The contract note is sufficient. For me a printed copy of the PDF they sent me was enough - you can also ask them for a printed copy at no extra cost.

Hi Annette

When you fill the shareholders club form in online it tells you to print and sign it and post it with the proof of shares, but it wouldn't let me print it:confused3

I rang the shareholders club and they said they had received it online and it was fine. I then just emailed them the pdf of the contract note from selftrade and they accepted that. Not sure if you can pay the membership fee over the phone.

I got my temporary card/letter by post within 3 days of speaking to them.

OOoo thats interesting...

So have a i got this right?.... i can buy 5 shares or £50 worth on selftrade, and then pay 33euros to join the shareholders club in which i would get discounts.... and memebrship last for how long a year? and then do i need to pay another memebership fee?
