Self-Guided Tour of St. Thomas

For the upcoming cruise, we want to do a self-guided walking tour of Charlotte Amalie. DW will be 24 weeks pregnant at that point (she will be 23 when we depart - we've checked on that), so she doesn't want to be tied to a tour group. We've poked around on the net and not found any maps for self-guided tours online. It looks like there may be maps available at various places once we arrive. If anybody has any experience with doing St. Thomas on your own or with finding the elusive map, we would love to hear about it!

I haven't done it on my own but I would suggest a tour book like Fodor's or the like. Make it a date night and go to Barnes and Nobles (or the perferred bookery of your choice) and browse the tour books.
