segway tour?

I know they do a segway tour at CA, and last year me and DD did the one at Epcot for her 18th b-day and LOVED it!! so, now I am taking my DS14 to DLR and would love to take him on the tour. Do you have to be 16 years old for the one in CA, like at Epcot? Or will I get lucky and the age limit is lower so we can do this? Thanks!!

Yes, you need to be at least 16 to do this tour. I didn't realize the age limit would be that high, but I guess I understand.

I really think DS would love this tour. He has seen the segways and thinks they are neat! I guess we will have to wait about 18 months to do it!

That is definitely a Segway company requirement for the tour, as they want you to be legal driving age.

And I agree - they rock.

You could check upstairs at Innoventions, where they allow you to sign a waiver and test-drive one. Don't know if it's the same minimum, but I'd ask.

I think they have the same minimum and it wasn't out every time we were last year.

I keep thinking I need to book this for our Jan trip, it's one thing DBF has always wanted to do...

Do you have to be 16 or have a license? My sil wants to meet up with us but she doesn't have a license...she is 17 though. Can she still do it?

Krissy - no license needed. 16 = legal responsible age for operating motor vehicles, so that is a good assumed age for being responsible enough to maneuver a Segway and not have increased liability.

Remember that they have to carry some kind of insurance liability policies for having random strangers operating the Segways (in case someone does something stupid and gets hurt). 16 is a good start age for assuming enough responsibility to be properly trained to operate it - ie old enough to know right from wrong and not to dick around on it.
