I looked up the hours for January 28, 2010 (which are still not up yet), but I saw that Redwood Creek Challenge Trail is closed for refurb. I heard that you go on the trail when you tour on the Segway and was sad to see that it will be closed. Will the tour be shorter or will we just go somewhere we wouldn't have gone before?

I'm interested in the answer to this one as I am in the same position too...

umm, Redwood creek trail isnt really used for segaway tours. You only drive in front of it.

but come to think about it, i do believe they have you start in Hollywood. not sure if you even go down grizzly run road area...

:confused3

When we did the tour in September, we did go on the Redwood Creek Trail. We cruised around inside that area for just a few minutes though, so not sure if you would do anything else or not....

You start in the Monster's Inc. area and do end up riding down past Soarin' and around GRR.

Sorry Albort, but our Segway tour in March DID go through the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail area. It was my favorite part getting to go in there and hear my favorite music being piped in while we segwayed (is that word?) around. :goodvibes

I have no idea what they will do, if anything, to replace that section while it's under refurb. :confused3

Maybe you went when it was under refurb? Or cast members are different. I've read a few reviews where they went in the RCCT and some had no mention of it. I have never been on the trail so I thought it would be neat!

Sounds good! I think Paradise Pier will be fun to ride around at too! I just can't wait. :goodvibes

Aw, I've never been on it! I should have known. Anything Disney has music going along with it. :) Who knows, maybe it's not set in stone or maybe it will just be open to Segway Tourists! :worship:

well, the redwood creek trail to me is not the path that connects condor flats to paradise pier but the actual place(where you enter a gate) where you have to enter in and run around the jungle jim area. it is small and to me seems very highly dangerous. Im a tab suprise if thats actually true...

but its just pure speculation to me....

That's the area we went into. However, it did not seem dangerous at all. The paths were wide enough, and fun because of the turns and the feeling we got that we were exploring. :)

When we did the segway tour in July, we entered the area and rode around a bit. It didn't feel unsafe at all. I thought it was soo cool to drive thru the big tree and see it without anyone else in there...

I don't think that a refurb of this area would keep me from doing this tour. There is soo much area that you get to ride in that it would still be lots of fun!

Oh I am definitely doing the tour still. I know that it will be fun! I was just wandering how much of an effect it had, like if a good portion of the tour was spent there. :goodvibes I am excited anyways!

Are they easy to ride? What sort of mishaps have gone on that you have seen or heard of? I'm a little bit scared!

I rode one in Epcot, at the Segway exhibit in Innoventions. They are extremely easy to ride; they give about 1 minute of instruction, and then you're off. The only mishap I've ever seen or heard of is that picture of George W. Bush managing to tilt it over forward and fall. In my few minutes of use, I would think that would be virtually impossible. I'm foregoing political comment at this point.:rotfl:

We definitely had more than 1 minute of training, it was more like 30 minutes. And make sure you're steady on it before trying to do anything, we had someone on our tour fall backwards and the segway kind of landed on top of her. She had done the tour before and just thought she knew/remembered what to do before the tour guides could get to her.

I was being a little snide. At the Segway exhibit, they do only give perfunctory instruction, but in the couple of minutes of riding--which is only back and forth for 40 feet or so--there is someone at your side.

Woo! I just checked again and RCT is not going to be closed! However, HISTA will be. :sad2:

Just joking about the sad part.
