Can someone just give me some info on this tour at Epcot. We thinking about possibly taking it. Also, how does it compare with the Keys to the Kingdom tour at Magic Kingdom? Thanks! :cool1:

The segway tour is our favorite thing to do in the world! It is such a blast. I would suggest you take the two hour tour and make sure you take a camera. On our last tour the Disney photographer never showed up so the only photos we have are the ones the instructor took of us.

I have never taken the other tour but the segway one is fantastic!

We have done both the Keys to the Kingdom and the 2 hour Segway Tour. Loved them both and would highly recommend both. What are the differences?

Keys to the Kingdom is a walking tour
Segway is a "riding" tour

Keys takes you behind the scenes in some places.
Segway, after the hour of class, takes you around the world in the same places you could go if you were walking.

Both have CM's that are well informed and share their knowledge of their parks.

The joy of Keys to the Kingdom is the history that you learn and the knowledge you gain.

The joy of Segway is learning to ride a Segway with the added bonus of learning a bit more about some of the countries in WS.

Take the Segway Tour, you'll love it. Do the 2 hour Tour so you get to ride around the world. The one hour is the just the training. The 2 hour is one hour of training and one hour of riding around the world. Only warning, you do need to be able to stand in one place for 2 hours. That can actually be longer than you realize.

Have fun! :cool1:

Here is all the info you will need about all of the tours offered, plus reviews from people who have taken them.

I liked both KTTK and Segway, they can't be compared since they are so completely different.
Have Fun! :sunny:

I haven't done KTTK, but the Segway tour is an ABSOLUTE MUST. It is SOOOOOOOO much fun.

I just did it on Sunday, and I can't wait to go back and do it again, maybe I'll even do it twice on the next trip. I wish you could book just the tour part without the instruction for those who have already 'passed' the tutorial.

Definately do the two-hour tour. The first hour is held in the Innoventions Plaza, close to Club Cool (formerly known as Ice Station Cool, the Coke exhibit) in a training room. You watch a brief video with the sole purpose of telling you what you already knew (you must be 16, no more than 250 lbs, be able to stand 2 hours, and Disney isn't responsible if you decide to be stupid and get hurt).

Then they tell you how to step onto and off of the Segway (which is, incidentally, the hardest part) and tell you about hte 3 key system. There are 3 available keys, one that goes 5 mph, one that goes 8 mph and one that goes 12.5 mph. you get the 5mph one, the instructor gets a faster one to keep up and help at the same time.

Then the two instructors go around and individually help each person board their Segway. The first five minutes are the hardest and I'll be honest, it's a little weird at first because you can't just stand still because there is no brake.

But then you start going forward and back in your little 'swim lanes' (as defined by cones), and then you learn how to turn, with the dial on the left handlebar, and then you weave through cones and in circles and then you go up hill and downhill.

Then the fun part starts: you leave Innovntions and go through Future World for about 5 minutes on your way to the World Showcase. This is a bit tricky because FW guests who aren't affiliated with the tour like to stand and stare without realizing that they're in your way, and we were told to watch out for some real wise guys who like to jump out and try to scare the poor segway rookies. But then you get to WS and someone opens a rope for you, and the journey begins.

Each country has a 'challenge' that you can choose to partake in (I did most of them) or exclude (in my case, the Germany bridge). Then, in Italy, you get about 15 minutes of free time to stroll around, race, have your photo taken by the instructor, or get off to rest your feet (and they will hurt. I can't explain why but my feet were killing me after the two hours. I didn't realize they hurt until I stepped off and the tour was over, but it took a few hours to get back to normal).

Then you continue and do maybe 2 or 3 more challenges, with the conclusion being in France, and then you ride back through the remaining countries without stopping and back through FutureWorld ever so briefly on your way to return your Segway. :guilty:

It is So, Soo, SOOO much fun. A must-do. I can't wait to ride the Segway all over again. I was just getting good when we had to return them!

Thanks guys for all of the info. Its gonna be a hard choice. I'm a HUGE Magic Kingdom fan and really want to see the underground system at the Kingdom. On the other hand... those segways look like SOOOO much fun and my family and I would have a blast on them. Well.. its a tough choice.... Hmm..

I need to sleep on this! :thumbsup2

When we did the KTTK tour in 2002 we only got to go in the utilidor under the Emporium on Main Street and back out on the other side. Saw absolutely nothing except a couple of doors to the Emporium storeroom. Our guide wasn't very good eitherand didn't tell us anything we hadn't already known! We were VERY disappointed! In fact, we were so disappointed that we only tried the one hour simply segway tour last fall because we were afraid it wouldn't be very good either and we didn't want to waste our money again. We LOVED it! Next October, we are doing the two hour Around the World Segway tour with our DD! In fact, I've been meaning to check and see how soon we can book it because I definitely don't want to miss out!

My vote is for the Segway tour!!!!!!!

Donna

Why not do both? :thumbsup2

Before committing to KTTK, do a search on that one. If I recall correctly, some visitors post-September 11th have been disappointed in the exposure to the underground system, saying that it was a very brief and meaningless trip downstairs. Others have spent ample time watching CM's without character heads, etc. You may or may not be lucky enough to see a lot of the underground that you're excited about.

I am a die hard fan of the Segway tour and have done it 3 times. On my upcoming trip in June I am going again. I have taken lots of the tours at WDW including KTTK and Backstage Magic and the Segway tour is by far my favorite.

Sign up early as this tour is becoming increasingly more popular.

Hey Segway fans, I read in another Segway thread that they are working on an OFF-ROAD Segway tour! How cool would that be?! :woohoo:
Apparently it will be at Ft. Wilderness. I am sooooo gonna do that! :sunny:

We have heard rumors about the new tour too! I sure wish it would start! I would love to do another segway tour on our upcoming trip.
For our family, it is one of the very favorite things in all of Disney!

All I have to say is it is the most fun thing I have ever done at Disney and I have been like 100 times. It is great fun... we tried to book it for a second time while we there at the tour but it was booked.

I'm so glad to see this as I just booked the Segway tour for our trip in September!

I called 407-WDW-TOUR today and they told me we could not book the Segway Tour until 90 days prior. We are going in October.

What number did you call to book it?

Thanks!

We had a BLAST on the Segway Tour in October. It was a highlight of our trip and I would definitely book it again in the future. We did the 8:30 Tour, which I would recommend. WS is not open to the public yet, and I felt comfortable. If you take the later tour WS will be open to the public and you will need to maneuver among the crowd on your WS ride.
I would highly recommend this tour.

My 16 year old son had two friends with him on our Disney trip last week and they all did the 9:30 Segway tour on Monday. My husband and I stayed for the first few minutes to take some pictures and enjoy seeing them tool around the room on their Segways. Then we headed to Soarin and got FastPasses for all five of us. It was about 9:45 or so when we got to the FP machines and the return time was too early so we rode The Land ride and got the Soarin FPs when we got out. Return time was between 11:09-12:10. Perfect! The boys were due back at 11:30 and we could get our second FPs at 11:10 so DH and I rode Test Track in the single rider line and then got all of us Test Track FPs before heading back to meet the boys returning from World Showcase. Worked out great and the teens were just thrilled with the Segway tour! Even more pleased that they had FPs in hand for two great rides without having to wait!
