We're going in Sept. (can't wait!) and doing the Segue Tour at Epcot. Who's done it and what did you think?

Thanks!

We liked the Segway tour so much we did it again! The first time we were nervous but the teachers are great! It is really a great time and I hope you enjoy it!

My MIL, DH and I did the tour last year and we really enjoyed it. It was funny because during our tour, people kept asking us how they could rent one.

We will definitely do this one again. Worth the money and a lot of fun. You get to go through WS before it opens, so it is neat to see them cleaning and prepping for the 11:00 opening.

Have fun.

We did the Simply Segway- one hour instruction only class. Absolutely the highlight of the vacation - after the class was over, we agreed that the 2 hour Segway Experience will be on our agenda for our next trip to WDW. We didn't book early enough to get into the longer Segway Experience, so we went with the one hour only. Left the class wanting more time. Well worth the money!!

I got this for DH's birthday last May and he LOVED IT! The best parts for him:
Getting to see World Showcase with no one else there except the staff, who were painting and planting
All the attention he got from other guests as the group "rode by"
The pure fun of using the Segway
The instructors were very cool and the group itself was fun

Hope you enjoy it as much as he did.

We did this just 3 days ago and it was WELL worth it! There were 5 of us and everyone agreed it was one of the highlights of the whole week! A few of the family were nervous at first but after about 15-20 min you started to feel real comfortable and after you start out on the tour around World Showcase you're very comfortable. No one in our class of 10 had any trouble at all. No falls, bumps or accidents what so ever.

We took the later class (starts at 9:30am) and got to ride around WS between 10:30am and 11:30am. That was fun because a few guests were just entering WS and they were watching all 12 of us fly around the walkways and paths! Several wanted to know if we were making a commercial for TV! :-)

My husband, son and I did this in February. It was the most fun we've ever had at WDW. LOVED IT!

We hope to do it again the next time we visit.

sorry to be dim :earboy2: but can you tell me what the segway tour is please???

yes, please lmk too..I'd like to see if i can do this too....Do you need a park pass for it, or is your tour separate from park entry since it's before it opens?

Segways are a two-wheeled, motorized, gryroscope balanced, vehicles ridden around Epcot by the CM's. WDW must have decided that there was an interest by their guests to ride these themselves. They give you instruction in how to ride/drive them and then pretty much let you loose in the World Showcase area prior to it's morning opening. The groups are limited to 10 or 12 people and they are absolutely the most fun!! Not sure what the charge for the full 2 hour offerring is, but the one hour (instruction only) class was $45 for the hour.

The cost of the 2-hour tour is $80 but they offer a 15% discount to AP holders, those who pay with a Disney VISA and I think AAA members as well. There are two of the 2-hour tours a day: 8:30-10:30 and 9:30-11:30. I think you can book pretty far ahead (90 days, maybe even longer). Call the tour number, 1-407-WDW-TOUR to reserve your place. They charge your credit card at the time of booking.

There are some restrictions: you must weigh less than 250 pounds and you must be at least 16 years old (and if less than 18, you need a parent to accompany you to Epcot to sign the consent form on the morning of the tour).

Edited to say: Yes, you do also need a park ticket since the tour is held inside Epcot.

thanks, they sound brilliant!will definately be booking the 2 hour slot i think.

Here you go, just scroll down to either of the Segway Tours.
I've taken the 2 hr. tour twice and I'm dying to do it again!
I reserved my tour with a Chase Disney Visa card and got a 20% discount! Not sure if they still offer that. Do ask about other possible discounts.
Enjoy, have a safe fun time! :sunny:

We've scheduled this for our September trip too...I've heard nothing but RAVE reviews! I can't wait!!!

We would like to book the Segway tour, however, my adult DD said she has absolutely no sense of balance and is concerned. She had a really tough time riding a Moped when she was in Hawaii, and said it was not a problem for anyone else. In my opinion, a Moped is really no more difficult than riding a bike, so I am really taking her concerns seriously. Anyone out there do this who has balance problems?

The segway's have a gyroscope (sp?) in them which keeps them upright. They will not fall over not matter what you do. Part of the first hour training demonstrates this. Though I am sure you can contact WDW and they can give you more info. Or go to Segway's website and read about them.

Hope this helps.

We've been on the Segway tour twice.
I just wanted to mention that you aren't really turned loose in WS; it's more like follow the leader with the tour guide/instructors. It's still very fun, but you do have to stay with your group and can't go wherever you want to. The instructor leads you around WS. In the areas that are already open to pedestrian traffic (from Mexico to Norway and then again thru the UK and Canada) you are in single file, not riding real fast (because they don't want you running into anyone). Since no one except CMs are in the area between Norway and the UK, you cand go faster there and don't have to stay in line.

I can ride a bike, but would have a problem riding a moped (the idea or a motorized vehicle that you have to balance is a little much for me).
But, if you can stand, you can use a Segway. In fact, some people with MS and Parkinsons who have problems with balance use Segways and are trying to get them recognized as mobility devices so they can use them placces (like WDW or shopping malls) where Segways are not welcome for regular guest use right now. The first half od the 2 hour tour is designed to get you comfortable with using the Segway. One of the first lessons is not to try to balance it - it will balance itself.
