Since last week had a "Must Dos" segment, I thought it would be interesting to see what each person's "DON'T Dos" would be at the parks...not necessarily because they are horrible, but maybe because you've done them once, and don't really need to do them again...

Must be an ACTIVE attraction. Can't pick "Sounds Dangerous", for example, just because it is still there but hasn't been open in a couple years...

For me, off the top of my head:

Magic Kingdom: Liberty Belle - been on it. Long slow ride.
Epcot: Captain EO. The 80s called and even they don't want it back.
DHS: Not much to choose from, but no interest in American Idol.
AK: Tossup between Primeval Hurl and Triceratops Spin, with the edge to Hurl. Hurts my back every time. Kids love it though.

The Mexico ride at Epcot is so painful (and could be so awesome) that I don't think I could do it again.

Dinosaur scares the crap out of me.

Teapots make me way too queasy.

DHS-probably Lights Motor Action-or do they still do American Idol. If so, that :)

extend your 'Don'ts' to theme park etiquette. Like:

• if you get to a parade late, dont push yourself in front of people who have been there for hours
• Don't act dumb when you are obv standing in a walkway area and a CM moves you. That front row spot was no one was claiming was not magically reserved for you to show up 5 minutes before the parade.
• Nobody behind you wants to watch the show through your iPad
• Flash photography on dark rides
• PLEASE MOVE ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE ROW, LEAVING NO EMPTY SEAT
• For the love of god, if you need to stop and consult a park map, please move to the side and don't stop dead center in the walkway

I'm sure I could think of others....

Oh yea...
• We all paid a lot for our vacation....don't be an ***....your vacation is no more or less special then mine. Be a good human being and we will all have fun.

Great question Brian!

MK: those darn teacups
Epcot: Mission Space (either version)
DHS: American Idol
AK: just about anything in the carnival area, plus Dinosaur.

Sounds like a great topic for its own thread!

My lists of Don'ts or perhaps "skips"

MK: Liberty Belle
Epcot: Captain EO
DHS: American Idol
AK: Tough to be a Bug

Sorry. Didn't mean to hijack the thread. Carry on.

No problem. Why not start a new thread here with your etiquette don'ts? I'm sure I've got some to contribute. :surfweb:

MK: Astro Orbiter, no contest! Once was one time too many.
EP: Circle of Life. Didn't hate it, but done it once
AK: Triceratop Spin
HS: That little interactive presentation before the drawing class (is it still there? Otherwise I have to pick another.) Once was enough but it was too long for what it was.

I can also think of a few "don't do" etiquette pieces...

Let's see, don't dos:

MK--I'd have to say the Liberty Belle or the Speedway
Epcot--Ellen's Energy Adventure (unless you want to take a nap) or Captain EO (went back on it for the first time since the 80s, forgot how bad it was!)
HS--American Idol/Indiana Jones (just saw this again for first time in at least 15-20 years, not one part has changed)
AK--don't really have a don't do

I think I may be one of the few people left in the world who love Ellen's Energy Adventure. I always make my party ride it. I'll admit that there is a large quantity of nostalgia in play there, but it is one of the few educational rides left in Epcot. As a geeky kid, the learning aspect of Epcot is what made me love it the most.

MK: Astro Orbiters. Nothing new about it.
EPCOT: Mission Space: Team Orange. Did it once. Really REALLY wanted to like it. Absolutely adored it until the nausea hit...and stayed for an hour.
HS: American Idol. Please, make it stop.
AK: Dinosaur. Indiana Jones in DL uses the same vehicle to far greater effect.

I think if you've never done Indiana jones I would still do dinosaur. I do agree about American idol though. Mission space is also good if you've never done it before, and you discover that you don't get nausea like me.

You are so lucky! I REALLY wanted to like it. The sensation of take off was amazing. Being weightless put a huge smile on my face. But shortly after that the nausea hit and I so couldn't concentrate on anything except not hurling.

This reminded me...as something sort of between this thread and the "know too much" thread...back when AK first opened, Dinosaur was "Countdown to Extinction", and it seemed MUCH scarier that it does now.

I just don't know if that's a difference between having ridden it many times - and thus knowing what is coming up when - or Disney having reportedly modified the attraction, lowering some of the sound effects and perhaps raising the lights (I believe it was darker) - but it isn't the same ride any more for me. We still ride it...but it doesn't have that adrenaline-inducing combination of thrill and dread it once had. Tower of Terror is similar for me now.
