Seems the rest of the travel world is catching up to Disney

After the whole crazy post-pandemic "travel revenge" period, followed by the nutty inflation, I took a big step back on travel and restaurant spending. Decided I won't join the frenzy. I'm content cooking at home and enjoying local attractions and will just patiently wait and save extra, because the next recession is coming - sooner or later. And then crowds will drop and deals will emerge. Then, it's time to PLAY. :cool2:

I just had to book yesterday at 9am a reservation just to enter Rocky Mountain National Park in a specific 2 hour window for one day in mid-August.
I live in Colorado, not far from RMNP. It's really taken the spontaneity away for us locals. If you ask me, it stinks!

I decided to stay around town this summer and take advantage of local offerings for once, but I can't even enjoy our local attractions because of tourists. A couple of months ago a friend came down from upstate for the day to see the Harlem Renaissance exhibit at the Met with me. The line just to get in looked like the standby queue for Flight of Passage, and it didn't even have any floating space smurfs. She's coming with us next year to Disney and the entire time we waited I told her I never wait this long for anything at the parks so don't worry.

I feel like Disney is pricing out the middle class entirely. We own DVC and a week for our family (7 including spouses) would be well over $12k for tickets, meal plan and flights…and that’s with not having to pay for rooms. Pretty disheartening

If spouses are coming I assume that’s adult children so 3 separate family units? 4k each isn’t bad since you added the DDP.

I highly recommend watching the documentary "The Last Tourist" it goes into 'over-tourism' and how overcrowding has destroyed many beautiful tourist destinations. Parts are very sad.

Not bad. That's insane price wise. My wife and I are going to Myrtle Beach for a week. That includes flight, hotel and car for $1200 each.
