Seems the new My Magic Plus system is looking more and more like a failure!

You realize that article is from November and FP+ is a moving target right now? Just this week they're changing the rules to allow offsite pre booking and we already know that Disney is thinking about adding extra passes once the first 3 are gone. People writing off FP+ need to just chill for a few months until Disney decide they're done tweaking then see what it looks like.

It will be at least a year before anyone including WDW has a good idea of the impact and success of MBs and FP+. Even on these boards and other public forms the reviews are at worst, mixed with plenty of return visitors posting positive experiences. And these and other public boards represent less then one percent of all WDW visitors and not a very representative one. WDW collects more data, including surveys, on its visitors then any other destination and can readily adapt as needed. Time for people to realize like it or not MBs and FP+ are here to stay.

Bingo, this system would literally have to be a money pit in order to be "cancelled" at this point. The potential money pit comes more likely from ill-hired infrastructure/datacenter/program guys than it does the FP+ concept. (Also its not the ITs fault likely for the issues as there is moving guidelines likely but at the same time at a certain point there needs to be accountability back to a team just at this point under performing - Obamacare website anyone?)

IF and WHEN the MDE app, website, and kiosk start working flawlessly then we will see an increase in happiness. Next would be the removal but also implementation of checks and balances for ride FP+ availability (you can't give out 80-90% of ride capacity to FP+ and think in the long run people will be happy with it as standby lines still need to move like in the old system).

The biggest issues confronting a total shutdown is the fact that IT WILL pay for itself in time more-so than any rides could ever hope to do in my mind. Information is the life blood of business and is part of the reason so many large corporations invest in KPI solutions to allow execs and managers to get real-time data on their company.

Also as much as people hate the system that are long time disney goers you should be the ones that love this. If you are actually the ones who keep Disney afloat like I have seen posted previously then you will be rewarded. Do you think if your group of visitors accounts for 70% of the revenue they are not going to bend to what you want?

I'm really hoping that one of the changes will be that you can get FP+ at more than one park per day. If they don't... I think it will have an impact on the park hopper ticket sales. :confused3
Nancy princess:

My hope is that the limit of 3 at one park is a temporary one until they get the system working to full capacity and without as many issues as they have had lately. The fact that APs were added recently and offsite guests will be added soon means it's gaining momentum to be available to everyone (with onsite guests getting extra perk of booking first)......so now they can test the system for overload, lol.

If you know IT or software, you know that this is pretty much the MO for bringing up new technology.....you bring on beta testers for the original kinks, then you slowly add more and more until crashes (LOL) and then you fix that...and try again, fix, try, fix tftftftftftf

We usually go in "off" season and the lines are fine....with the "big name" rides needing a little more patience. The last several visits with FP+ have changed that, with a lot more people in line at the usually short line rides....probably because they don't have a FP+ for the big rides so they take whatever has a shorter line.....meaning MY short lines, lol.

Much as I hate the idea of having to plan my rides each day, a part of me now thinks maybe that's the solution......get everyone on multiple FP+ for their entire day....with the rogue few being in the standby line and the rest of us having an itinerary for our whole freaking day! And if this were booked ahead then Disney could easily control the flow of traffic around the park, the number of people standing in FP lines, have enough employees in the right places for rides, shows and food, etc. Leaves out the random choices and makes me feel like a robot, but hey, don't we all kinda have our own patterns anyway? Think about it from Disney's point of view....if they knew where every guest was going to be at any given moment, efficient use of their resources would be at optimum (how many times have we seen 3 or 4 CMs just standing around a ride that is pretty much walk on....what if they knew ahead that between 10 and 11am only 50 people would ride this ride....one employee is enough and send the extras to that ride where 500 are heading, lol.

The fiscal year doesn't end until October for Disney. The article is talking about this fiscal year's budget. So, it's still very relevant.

We will be there in December and I am curious as to see how it will all play out over the next few month. As with anything new it takes time to work the kinks out. I am sure Disney put a lot of money into this project so I don't see them just closing up shop and saying oops never mind back to the old way. Although I am holding out hope that they will give more FP+ per day and allow for multi park use. That would be great.

So it was published in nov? It has information in it regarding what is currently going on and projects that were put on hold because of it. It also states when possible layoffs may occur. So information that is pertinent to now and future projects is outdated? Please!!!

ok NOT the only one who feels it's outdated...not worth debating I don't have as much passion as you do about it apparently  I'm out

Unfortunately a few months from now is AFTER I have already sunk 3K into AP's, another 5K into my BC WV CL room and 2K into my flights.

What percentage will I get back for being a drafted test participant?

Another thing to remember about this article is that it was written by Al Lutz. As a Disneyland guy, Al has long had an obvious axe to grind when it comes to WDW, and his information has been notoriously unreliable.

Regardless of whether the information was true when it was written, or whether its predictions have come to pass, the article itself is OUTDATED. As in "not up to date." It was written at the end of November 2013, and for the most part referenced a 90 day hold on most of the projects mentioned in the article.

90 days from the end of November was the end of February 2014, a month ago. Are those projects still on hold? Are issues with FP+ still bogging down Imagineering development? The article doesn't say, because it wasn't written last month. An UPDATE to the OUTDATED information is in order.

That's the problem that most people seem to ignore. The consequences of the "testing" are being felt by real people who spent a ton of money on vacations. If your trip is negatively affected, it matters.

As HydroGuy mentioned in another thread, there is damage being done.

I'd suggest studying the EOQ Earnings Call from Feb and look at Ops hit from MM+. It's ongoing and a concern voiced by the analysts (BoA esp). That hit has to be made up from some other sections of the Ops Budget for the rest of the fiscal year, at least. That's just how it works and there's no getting around it- SEC, SOX and all that.....
