Seems CBR reviews are getting more and more favorable...

I noticed on tripadvisor.com and other hotel review sites that Caribbean Beach Resort is getting much better reviews than it had even a year or so ago. It makes me wonder if most of the former "bad" reviews were written before the refurbishments at CBR. It sounds like the newer, positive reviews are more current.
Last year, we stayed at POR as our first MOD and really liked it. Still, the theme of CBR is very appealing and we're thinking about it for our May '06 trip...with the sequel to "Pirates of the Caribbean" coming out later in the summer, I thought that might make it even more fun.
For those of you who have stayed at both POR and CBR (recently), how would you compare the two? I loved the landscaping at POR, but wasn't thrilled with the main pool (kitchen sink, etc.)

Thanks!

Haven't been to POR but I also have to say I love CBR... it is such a great resort. I've stayed at so many hotels (not in Disney) and it is on top of my list... :cool1:

I have stayed at CBR, POR and POFQ. I liked them all but I love the themeing of CBR. CBR is my fave of the mods. They are all basically the same, the main differences are the themes of each resort.

Well I stayed at CBR 7 years ago for my honeymoon and loved it.
We just got back last Saturday from CBR haven't been to Disney since honeymoon. So this is the only WDW property I've stayed at.
We loved it 7 years ago and really like it with the refurb. More storage, fridge and nice big comfy beds. The only thing that sort of bothered me about the room was the ceiling fan. They went a little cheap on those. The way OPR is now set up is much better and I thought had more choices and better food.

We were at CBR for the first time this April and loved it. We're going back there on our next trip -- my DS14 and DS11 insist!!

So good to hear this! I was wondering if I made the right decision for my trip at the end of the month. I almost picked up the phone to see if CSR had availability, and then this post made me feel better. It looks like the CBR has such a beautiful landscape, and by the time I leave for WDW, I'll have to shovel snow...so it looks soooo wonderful! :flower:

CBR is a beautiful resort inside and out. You will truly feel like you have escaped from the world when you stay there.

I think both POR and CBR are great resorts. I haven't stayed at either since the 90's but loved them and can find no problems with either other then their size. They are huge and when placed in one of the remote area's it can be a hike to fill your cups or get a snack.

We have stayed in both of them and like each of them. Our favorite is POR but CBR is a close second within the moderate level.

We love CBR we were there 2002, 2004, 2005 all in June and last week we put a deposit for June of 06, I cant comment on the other mods because the themes do not appeal to us at all. I dont have any negative comments about CBR, thats why we keep going back!! :teeth: Our first trip in 02 we were in Trinidad South, and it was quite a hike to food court, since then we have stayed in the preferred section. I know you'll have a great time!! :earsgirl:

We've never stayed at POR (checked in, got a horrible room, and got them to move us to POFQ -- this was back when it was Dixie Landings), but we just spent two nights at CBR last week. We loved it!! We had a corner room that looked out on the lake, and just loved all the tropical landscaping. My dh called it "Poly lite", LOL!

The food court was great, we had no problems with the transportation, and all the CMs were very helpful and friendly. We'll definitely be going back!!

Just wondering....where can I find recent rates on rooms at CBR? We stayed there a few times already but were always able to use our Magic Kingdom Club Card which is now defunked. In 2003 we paid $175.00 a night with our MK discount. Any thoughts???

Thanks,
N :earsboy:

We just paid $166 (with tax) per night last week. It was a AAA rate. We reserved a standard view but were upgraded to a water view. :)

Did you have to use AAA to plan your trip or simply present your card at check in and do the planning yourself? I'd rather do my own planning. Looks like rates are pretty much the same as 2003.

Thanks for the response.

You should ask any questions about rates for any Disney resort in the codes and rates section of the Resorts board. They will be able to give you all kinds of great information.
