seeing fantasmic, woc and fireworks around NYE

Our family (me, DH, DD8 and DS5) will be in the parks on Thurs. Dec 30th, Sat Jan 1, Sun Jan 2 and Mon Jan 3 (until about 7pm). We'd like to see Fantasmic, fireworks and WOC. We've been to WDW a few times but not Disneyland. We have thursday night, saturday night and sunday night for the three nightly shows. We are skipping NYE. After reading about the crowds we'd rather do something else.

We are thinking of doing the second show of Fantasmic on Thursday night. The kids can sleep in on Friday.

Does it matter if we do WOC on Sat or Sun? We plan on doing the WOC dinner package but would like to avoid as much waiting and crowds as possible.

How long before fireworks do we need to find a spot?
