We always stay on Harbor hotels. There's a chance we can stay on-site. I'm wondering, where is the bag check/metal detector area if you're coming from onsite hotels?

I know there is an entrance from the GC to DCA but what if you're going to Disneyland in the morning?

I'm looking at Google maps and I can see the green tents for the Harbor security area but can someone tell me where it is coming from the on-site hotels?

Thanks!

It’s where DTD starts across the small street from the Disneyland Hotel (across from the wizard hat at DLH). Next to what used to be ESPN, I think?

So if you stay at the Grand Californian...do you not go through a bag check before heading into the parks? Sorry...I'm so confused. Ha!

I think there's a security check as you enter and leave GCH, maybe near the Dress shop? I haven't been there in a while but I seem to remember something like that.

The DTD security checkpoint as you leave DLH always had a really short line when we were there, it was great. The longest I ever saw it was when people were heading over for rope drop, but it was still way better than the Harbor security.

It's been a million years since I've even been to Downtown Disney or parked over in the lot or anything. I think the last time I parked in Mickey and Friends...bag check for the parks was after getting off the tram (basically right before the esplanade like on the Harbor side) but now I think it's before. It's all so different!

For GCH the bag check/entrance is by the dress shop in DTD- few doors down from the Sephora on your map. There is an optional one that opens next to world of Disney, but I’m not sure when that’s used. You access both from the same courtyard of the hotel. You do not need to walk down to DL hotel. I cant remember if you guys are early birds?

Theres also another new entrance to DCA that gets you in by corn dog castle. You follow the signs for laundry/grills to get to the exit closest to it.

Unfortunately that passageway for security from GCH into DTD is not all that big, so there are only a couple lines. We did not stay there last week, but we ate there and had to re-enter DTD in the evening. It wasn't particularly fast, even at a 'slow' time, TBH. I am curious how bad it gets in the morning, b/c the line must just wrap around and into the building. However, there is not a chance it could have the crazy gathered crowd like Harbor - no place for a crowd to really build!

There won’t be any line over a couple people then- yay! Lol!

For EE, a line builds and security opens right at 7. We got there at 6:30-6:40 and were not first in line (20-30th) but far enough up we were first at a turnstile each day. I’d say there were 200 people in line when they started moving. Which looked long but I bet it went fast-ish. I’d bet after 7:20 theres no real line.

We aren't rope droppers so I would hope that would lessen the chance of a crazy line but who knows these days, I guess.

You can’t really see it in the map but yeah it wrapped around the courtyard- not back in though- at least not our days before Christmas.

I think you’ll be good. PP is right, it’s small so if you have bad timing it could be a few minutes, but you are covered and it moves. I just always get behind the person with the giant backpack! They are thorough there… check all the pockets.
