Unless things have changed, you will just go through security at your first airport. The gates are all in the secure area, so a second screening should not be necessary unless you have to leave that secure area for some reason.

The only place we've ever had to go through security twice was we had a connecting flight through Dulles airport (Syracuse to Orlando) and that was a couple of years ago. I've never seen anything like it before. We had to go from one terminal to another and in order to get there we had to actually leave the secure area. It must be the way the airport was set-up. It made me a little nervous that we would miss our flight, but we made it fine....Just had to go through the taking the shoes off, everything through the x-ray machine again.......

...and remember to pack all of your toothpaste, waters, shampoos, etc. in your CHECKED baggage with the new security rules put in place today!

Thank you for the info. I hope it is only once. I have already repacked all my carry on liquids and gels.
THANKS

the terminals at Logan are separate buildings & if your 1st flight comes into terminal A & your 2nd goes out of terminal B (just as an instance) you wd have to go thru security again in the new terminal. This is likely only if you are flying different airlines for the 2 legs of the journey. If you are flying both legs of the journey on Delta for instance both flights will use terminal A & you won't go thru security again because you won't leave the gate area in that terminal.

At this point in time, travelers are being screened at security checkpoints as well as at the gate when boarding aircraft. Expect to have your carry-on inspected at BGR and each time you board an aircraft.

Things HAVE changed. As previous poster said, you will be checked again even if you don't leave the gate area before you get on the next leg of your flight, to make sure you haven't purchased any liquids or other prohibited items.

I do not know how extensive this screening is, as I did not fly today.

This was just posted as a TSA update , that beginning tomorrow, 8/11 passengers will be checked twice, once at the main security checkpoint, and once again at the gate before they board the plane to make sure that no recently restricted items are brought onboard in hand carried items.

Like a previous poster said as long as you are flying on the same airline you will not go through the TSA checkpoint twice (x-rays, metal detector)...although 2 exceptions come to mind American/American Eagle and Continental, both of these have gates in 2 locations so if you land in one and your flight to MCO is in the other area then you will go through the TSA checkpoint again at Logan.

Also ALL carry-on bags (at Logan) are being hand checked at the gates prior to boarding the plane. This is because liquid items are sold in the secure areas of the airport, so they are re-confirming that you have no liquids in your carryon.

Best advice...bring very little on the plane with you...check everything (this comment coming from someone who refuses to check any bags, but will have to change her ways from now on :thumbsup2 )

So, in reality, we'll be checked three times on each connection flight.

I will not be changing airlines so at least that should help. I leave tomorrow and am ready for anything. Thank goodness we have 3 hours to change flights.
THANKS EVERYONE
How bad can it e we are going to DISNEY TOMORROW  :cool1:
