Security at DS resorts

We are wondering about something… Since there is a walkway to Saratoga Springs from Disney Springs, is anybody just allowed to come from Disney Springs onto the resort property? And similarly, use the boat to the resorts that are connected via boat?
I know that there are gated entrances to other resorts, and that helps to limit day guests, but of course anybody could take a bus…
My neighbors just returned from a trip and were pretty upset that a huge birthday party group walked over from the Springs to use their pool and they apparently were not staying at the resort.
Since we are older and often walk around the resorts at night, I am wondering about this as far as safety.
Please report to WDW guest services. One can hope they start to take resort safety more seriously.

I think if you're not wearing a magic band/card/app with a current WDW resort reservation, or have a current park pass and/or reservation you should't be able to use WDW transportation, buses, boats, monorails. If there's a reason otherwise you would need to register your name and get a card for that day through a security booth onsite to access the resorts.

I would say you can’t use Disney transportation at or to a resort without a room or dining reservation or a special pass. The parks pass or reservation is how people are parking at Disney Springs for free and then going into a park. This takes up room on the busses for the resorts for those staying at the resorts. Saratoga is particularly bad because they can just park, get the bus back to Saratoga, and then get in a bus to whatever park they want.

There are so many opportunities for food/beverage/merch sales at the resorts that won't ever happen. It's just not realistic nor is it necessary.

Bring back free MagicBands with your stay. They can’t be that expensive. CMs can scan for your reservation. Easy.

They don't have to give out Magic Bands (I read a few days ago that people are saying it's looking like Disney is winding down Magic Bands anyway), CMs can scan someone's MagicMobile card on their phone wallet or a plastic room key.

I had a conversation with a woman at OKW pool a few years ago who was a local and said they tried to swim at every pool on site each summer. She had been to all of them except BC/SaB she said. I said I’d be nervous of getting in trouble and she said “no one cares” lol
The only time someone would care is if a person got seriously hurt an sued. Unfortunately then our MFs would go up due to the increased cost of insurance.

They can just implement what Aulani does, so they have a system in place already at a dvc resort... we get wrist bands everyday and where we get our towels... In fact they become a fun souvenir too... and love showing off how many we can get at the end. Also dvc get the sparkly ones while non dvc get plain ones... soo it is another cheap way to sell more direct contract benefits. You can see them on this pic here.

great picture!

Even Aulani doesn't fully pay attention to the wrist bands. When I was there in April, only about half of the people at the pool/lazy river had wrist bands. I wonder if because so many people wear long sleeves in the pool, they just assume there's a band under there.

I find the whole pool issue baffling! Would you ever go to a resort/hotel anyplace else besides WDW and use their pool?? I wouldn't even walk around resort grounds anywhere else and do the activities intended for hotel guests! And would like to think that the people in the hotel are meant to be there as hotel guests.
We just recently stayed a mid level hotel in NH for a night, and as soon as you walked in they asked for ID and reservation number- before you can get past the desk.

Actually people do. I would not, but when my one nephew was younger he traveled in his pickup with a cab and he would use hotel/motel pools along the way and then use the showers and rest rooms. He slept in the back of his pickup. He was really poor back then and he got a job in the parks service all the way across the country, so he only had money for gas and picked up food at grocery stores along the way. And he may have done it when he came back home for a visit at first. But he would have to go out into the wilderness for his job for weeks at a time with just a backpack.
