My wife and I and two young kids will be staying in a studio. Does anyone have any ideas for sectioning off the room at night so when the kids go down by 8 my wife and I can stay up for a little bit?

The best idea we have is buying a large opaque bed sheet and somehow hanging it between the wall by the tv and the wall by the bed/bathroom. Anyone ever tried this or something else?

thanks!

Someone on another thread mentioned buying those 3M hooks w/command adhesive, mount them where needed, string a piece of twine or laundry line and clip a sheet to it. Same person also mentioned moving the sofa/couch away from the wall and putting the pnp behind it, so the sofa would create it's "room" of sorts, however the ones in the DVC villas are sofa beds, so pretty heavy. I've never tried to move one. For all I know, it's bolted to the floor. lol. Just a thought though.

thanks for the suggestion. Our biggest concerns are light and noise so that hook idea might work well except I would hate to have the adhesive ruin the paint or something like that when we take them off to leave.

We took 3M hooks and a cheap laundry line and hung a blanket on it. DS slept on the other side so we could watch tv. We always take some clips that we got at the hardware store for a couple dollars (they come in a tube with various sizes, I think $3.99) in case the vent is blowing on the bed too. We just clip a towel over it.

I've used the command adhesive strips at home and never had it damage anything (used on painted dry wall), so I wouldn't worry too much about it in the resort. :)

Which resort will you be staying in? That will make a difference.

Beach Club Villas and Animal Kingdom Villas

Does anyone know if you can re-use those 3m command strips?

Hiya,

I really wouldn't worry - they will be sooooooooooooooooo tired . Ours are 6 and 8 and whenever we go away we settle them down with half an hour's quiet time and a story, then within 10 min they are away with the fairies (usually during the story!!)..... TV doesn't unsettle them, or radio, ours don't even wake up when the alarm clock goes at 8am!! Mind you, I'm always so tired when we go away, that I fall asleep to the tv about an hour after them anyhow....

you can't reuse the strips, but you can buy replacement strips without the whole package of hooks.

We use them to hang Christmas decorations. On rare occations, I've had to touch up paint after they have been removed. One time I ripped the paper from the sheetrock a little.

I'd be tempted to put the kids down and then sit on your balcony while they fall asleep. Once they are asleep, you should be able to move around fairly quietly.

So are you planning on putting the kids in the sleeper sofa or on the queen bed? The TV is more in front of the bed than the sleeper sofa. But it's kind of between them, too. The table will be in the corner in front of the sleeper sofa near the slider.

If you put the kids in the queen bed are they going to stay in the queen bed and the two of you sleep on the double sleeper sofa?

They will actually be in two pack n plays or 1 pack n play and a crib. I think there is enough room to put them on the other side of the divider between the bedroom part and the bathroom area.

thanks for everyones ideas!

That's why we always try to book a 2 br condo when we go on vacation. This is the first trip to WDW since the boys (8 and 10) were born, so I can't recommend any. Mom and Dad gave us a week at Wyndham Bonnet Creek, as they are Wyndham timeshare owners, and that's where we're going to stay.

My guess is that you will all be tired enough to turn the lights out at 9pm, or to be able to do with just the bedside lamp after that. The times that we have travelled and stayed all in one room (and rooms as small as 10x12 for 4 people), we let the boys stay up a bit late and we went down a bit early. As we'd just walked through multiple museums / castles / tourist attractions, it worked out just fine, and they simply slept a bit later in the morning.
