Secret Slushies and Secret Doors

I prevailed upon DD to model skater's costume for ya'll (now that I have relatives in Texas I guess I can talk like a Texan) (please forgive the dark makeup on my 10 year old...she has dreams of being a make-up artist someday and practices regularly)

So, without further adieu....here's skater's "I'm going as myself" costume! (ta da!) pixiedust:

:rotfl2:

Oh no! I hope nobody else going to the party that night is wearing the same costume! That would be *awkward*

EX-actly!!! :thumbsup2 Want to meet us at BWI?
I would LOVE to meet you at BWI -if only I could win the lottery tonight I could be there before you and get the drinks in :thumbsup2
:rotfl: As long as you're not visualizing Main Street in the middle of the session :goodvibes. Or singing Hakuna Matata under your breath.
:rotfl2::rotfl2:
I did have a client totally get me off topic the other day in session. Remember how you could get some of your high school teachers off on a tangent and not have to do the lesson because the teacher would just start talking about their own interests?!?!? Yep....I got played! We should have been talking about grief and loss but the client brought up cats. :rolleyes2 We spent most of the session talking about cats. I don't know what I"ll do if anyone ever brings up Disney as more than a passing comment.... (seriously I am completely competent and a very good therapist....I know some of you are having your doubts right now).

Sister Bartholomew (aka Barty)- RE teacher who we totally sidetracked at least once a week by mentioning Australia :lmao:
Thanks for bringing back those memories-good times :thumbsup2

So glad to hear Skater is considering wearing clothes and not streaking down main street naked :scared1:

Loving all the pepsi bling :cool1:

We will expect our drinks to be on the table when we arrive Thursday! ;) The flight we were were hoping to get on is actually listed as full....but we're going early anyway. skater keeps talking about needing a drink.

You may be wondering why my ticker says 4 days but it's CLEARLY 3 more days til our trip...Let me 'splain somethin' here....I made the ticker before we decided to wake up at Disney on our first REAL day of vacation by flying down Thursday night instead of Friday morning. But I didn't want to change my ticker because then it goes back to the beginning and it looks like I have a longer wait than I do. :thumbsup2

I didn't get to post yesterday but I DID get to see skater briefly. We had our annual fall festival at our house and she was able to come for part of it. I think this weekend may have been the most stressful that we've had to get through before the big vacay.

In any case, I'm off to get my nails done today--mani and pedi. It's my pre-trip ritual to have pretty nails. :rolleyes1 And....I'm going to the chiropractor because I am SO sore from managing the horses yesterday that I can barely walk. This will not do at all! Hmmm...did I mention that my husband tore his pectoral muscle in his right arm? So he's in pain and having to have help with work on the farm. And I've had to pick up a lot of slack around here because he literally cannot do it. He found some guys looking for work who are helping out and a former employee is also helping. (My DD refers to him as Mr. Incredible....long story--I'll try and post it later because it's cute).

The doctor says my issues with my memory lately are because of my concussion. Thank goodness. I thought I was really losing it!

Do I seem scattered this morning? I am! I nearly forgot to pack my Magic bands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:scared1::scared1::scared1:

Here's yesterday's blog post:

This morning was crisp and cool here in Maryland, a beautiful, sunny Autumn day. I was nearly tearful at the thought that in four days I will be waking up in the middle of the magic! There is something different about the sunlight in Florida, and I absolutely LOVE early mornings when I'm at Disney World!

With only four more days to get ready for this vacation I have to admit I also felt a little bit of anxiety as I would suddenly remember something that needed to be done or packed.

  • Chargers! I must remember chargers! You never, ever want to run out of battery power for your camera or your phone or your computer while at Disney! I take a lot of photos (shocker, I know) and now with the miracle of posting to Facebook so I can continue to torture (I mean share the joy with) my friends, I have to be able to post status updates about all the fun I'm having! So today's pre-vacation planning included running around finding my chargers.
  • Magic Bands! My friend and I were chosen to participate in the testing of this new technology at Disney World and since we have two separate room reservations (a room only reservation for our first night and a package for the rest of our stay) we each have two magic bands. I suddenly noticed the box for my Magic Bands hidden under a pile of vacation paperwork! Oh dear! I nearly forgot them! Whew! They are in the suitcase now.
  • List of things to do and take. I'm a list-maker. Sometimes I'll do something and then add it to my list of things to do just so I can cross it off. In any case, today was also about making lists of the things I need to do but can't do just yet....such as pack my hair brush. I'm going to need that between now and take off. But I don't want to forget it. My husband and I went on an anniversary trip last November and I forgot my entire bag of beauty supplies--shampoo, skincare, make up. From then it, it goes on the list!

We had a busy day with family and church activities so that was about it for today. Do you think I'm going to be ready?

Here's today's blog post:

SOOOO close! I can almost touch it now! Typically by this point I would have my clothes all laid out and some even packed. It just hasn't happened yet!

  • Schedule for the family while I'm gone (check)
  • Manicure and pedicure with Disney-themed paint (check)
  • Slight panic when I had that "I hate all my clothes and nothing fits me and I need something cute to wear or my vacation will be ruined" moment this morning standing next to my closet. (check)
  • Relief when I spent 20 minutes (a new world's record) in Kohl's and found 6 pairs of capris and 4 shirts in my size, bought them without even trying them on, used my 30% off coupon and got $10 Kohl's cash (score!) and still made it in time to pick up the kids from school! (Whew!). (check)
  • Plan: try on outfits this evening after dinner, allowing plenty of room for excessive snacking at Epcot's Food and Wine Festival. (Return the ones that don't fit to Kohls after vacation.) Lay out outfits for packing tomorrow.

Congrats on your shopping trip. Will you be back in time to use your Kohl's cash?

Hi, just got caught up here! You will have a fabulous time! The Cosmo slushy in France is awesome! Highly recommend. Also, the happy lychee drink at China was refreshing and not too sweet. And all the food we had was amazing! I don't think you could go wrong with any of your choices.

Anywho, on to my reason for quoting the above, my husband and I wanted to get on an earlier flight too and he noticed it was sold out about 2 days prior to our leaving. BUT we still went to airport early anyway, requested to be put on standby list and...WE GOT ON! At least 6 people didn't show up, so we got on the 8 am flight with other standbys. A whole 4 hours early to Disney! So don't give up hope.

You just got me real excited about the flight!

I have also forgotten to take my makeup bag on vaca with hubby so I always pack it first now.........:rotfl2: Just take a deep breath you will be there before you know it .........repeat......there is no place like home, there is no place like home. And when you get there they will tell you welcome home!

Okay....AWESOME!! Here are my emergency questions:
  1. Who do we talk to when we get to the airport? The check-in people? the gate people?
  2. What should we do about checking our luggage? We are not using ME for the late flight because we get in too late and want to pick it up ourselves. So if we are trying to fly stand by on the earlier flight, do we check our luggage on that flight? And what if we don't make it?
  3. What happens if we can't get on the earlier flight and we are on standby? Do we just get on the next flight?

You just got me real excited about the flight!

I know, right? We may have to schmooze someone to get to sit together though! :cool2:

Someday, when I invent a transporter, the first place we are going to use it is Disney!!!:rotfl:

Today's blog post:

There are so many ways to countdown to a vacation:

  • Months (We're past this now)
  • Weeks (We're even past this now)
  • Days (Only two!)
  • Sleeps (Only two! Plus maybe a little nap on the plane)
  • Work days (Also two since I'm leaving on a week day)
  • Client hours (Eight)
  • Hours (Forty-four as of this writing)
  • And checklists....things still to get done....stuff to do.....

And here's what was on the list for today:
  • Pick up some cash (Who doesn't love Disney shopping?)
  • Finalize the helpers schedule for the family (Do you know how many people it takes to replace mom?)
  • Pack shoes and underwear for the trip (This is not to be overlooked!)
  • Call mom (She likes to talk to me before I go away)

We leave TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I'm so ready--it's gray and cloudy here today (at least this morning) and feels like winter. I actually had to turn the heat on.

But I'm torn between being so excited and this:

So last night I got a text from my brother...."Dad is taking mom to the ER." What? So I called--my mom has only one kidney and she has lots of issues with kidney stones, so she had a stent implanted a while back to deal with some particularly difficult stones. It was in longer than recommended so the doctor removed it yesterday but then she was unable to urinate--there was a blockage in the tube. She went to the ER last night and they flushed it but she was still in a lot of pain. They sent her home again and told her to call 911 if things got worse. My dad took her to the bigger, better hospital this morning which is where she is now. Just waiting to hear back what they are going to do for her now. My dad has dementia--he's in the beginning stages, but I know this makes him so anxious. This is when I wish I wasn't 800 miles from them. *sigh*

Okay....AWESOME!! Here are my emergency questions: [*]Who do we talk to when we get to the airport? The check-in people? the gate people? [*]What should we do about checking our luggage? We are not using ME for the late flight because we get in too late and want to pick it up ourselves. So if we are trying to fly stand by on the earlier flight, do we check our luggage on that flight? And what if we don't make it? [*]What happens if we can't get on the earlier flight and we are on standby? Do we just get on the next flight?

Oh, we were carry on only, so we went straight to gate. Since you are checking luggage, you'll probably want to speak to the agent at the check in counter. When we did get on the flight, we had to gate check our bags. So we ended up going to baggage claim to pick up (we didn't use any ME tags). We still had the original boarding pass for our later flight, so I assumed we would have used that if we didn't get on standby.

GOOD LUCK! I'll have my fingers crossed for you! At the worst, you still get cocktail time at the airport, which would have been our plan if needed! Hope you have bunches of fun and that everyone in your family stays healthy and safe while you're away!!!!

I'm just back, you are just about to leave? We really could have planned this better. Prayers for your mum.

Hope everything is ok with your mom, and you have a great Good luck on getting an earlier flight, hope it works out you will have to let us know Hope it is warm for you all there is a cold front moving in.

YAY!!! By this time tomorrow your vaca will be underway!!!

Make sure to take lots of food porn pics.....I will be waiting for them!!!!

I'm sorry to hear about your mom but try not to stress over it, there's always time to stress AFTER vacation!!!! Just try not to think too hard while you are there!

I probably will not be up here again before you leave so have a safe flight and a WONDERFUL MAGICAL trip!!!
