ETA: I forgot the obligatory cast of characters....

LLP: Plotting momma!
DH: wishes we could renig on the Carnival cruise
DD7: not 7 yet--but soon to be...."mom, can we go when I am 8" is a popular daily inquiry
DD4: thinks the carnival cruise is our disney cruise--I keep trying to set her straight, but of course she believes me to be incorrect.
DS: In on the secret from Day 1...but pretty much forgets as soon as it is spoken. Though the impish grins he provides makes it fun to continue telling him the secret.

DSis: Doing a land and sea--but the sea is no longer without me!
Her DH: looking forward to this adventure with no nonsense
Her DD1: can't wait to go, can't wait to stay---will love it when she gets there of course!

DH's family: The reason we are on a Carnival cruise!

**Note: We don't find anything inherently wrong with Carnival--we just had a bad honeymoon experience and had been looking forward to booking a DCL cruise.

Well where to start…one year ago—we booked a 7 night cruise to the Eastern Caribbean on…Carnival. This was after we swore up and down we wouldn’t go on Carnival again. We had a few snafus on our honeymoon that yielded us double discounts on a future cruise (one from Carnival and one from the TA that could be used together). Hubby poo poo’d that idea b/c as he puts it….we’d HAVE to sail on Carnival again. Oh—and then there was the horrendous dining room treatment (we left…or attempted to leave prior to the Macarena and with one foot out the door, we were stopped by the busboy like two teenagers sneaking out the bedroom window. Yep—we obeyed…yes we are fools.) We are not ones to complain—I had just called the TA to find out why we got an ADA room when we didn’t request it, nor require it. And b/c I am a talk-a-holic I shared our experiences…well…they passed our story along to the powers that be and along with those double discounts came $250 cash to go to dinner. But still---our next cruise was going to be Disney---it HAD to be Disney. Oh crap—hubby’s family is going on vacation….and they didn't choose Disney :(. Okay, fine..we shall go on this non-Disney boat.

Now it is one year later---my little sister has booked her Disney Wonder trip. What?!?!---oh no she di’nt. Fine my little charming sister---please bring me a nice souvenir. I as the wonderful big sister I am get her some valuable DIS board information. Okay—maybe I’ll pretend my cruise is a Disney cruise and I will use the FAQ’s for packing to assist me. (Duct tape—perhaps to duct tape our waiters mouth shut just in case we break dining room curfew and leave when we are not supposed to….) Maybe that will tide me over.

Nope—it didn’t work. Okay sister—you just cannot one up me…you want to go on a cruise…*kneels down on both knees to beg sheepishly* “would it be okay if we perhaps maybe booked a Disney cruise for the same time that you go???” (okay—if she said “no”, I would just book a week earlier...) “oh you would love it? Great! Okay—here’s my reservation number.”

And thus—we are booked on the Wonder just a week after we get back off of the Carnival cruise!

And the best part----we are NOT telling the kids!

Okay—I couldn’t keep a secret, so I did tell my infant. He has promised to keep his lips sealed on the matter. He has also signed a contract with baby drool that should he learn to speak when he is 6 months old and be determined a genius—he will not divulge the secret under penalty of brussell sprouts as his first food.

Based on my research—it seems that we could either arrive at the crack of debarkation of the 3 night cruise. Or we could just leisurely arrive at noon and be able to easily embark on the ship. Since it will be Sunday—and auntie and uncle will be staying over the night before…we figured we could just go to church as usual. We will then ship the girls off to Sunday school and then go home and pack the rental car with our things. Then we will drive our vehicle to pick the girls up and suggest we go and see the Disney boat and see off their auntie, uncle and cousin as they leave on their Disney cruise while of course continuing to say upon any requests to go on said boat in the future that we have to save the money, it will be a long time, we just got back…

Buwahahahahaha!!!!

My next plan of attack....how exactly to transition from---"Goodbye Auntie" to "Why don't we see if they will let us go look at the boat on the inside?" :rotfl2:

*Note to self: you daughter can read—proceed on the DIS boards with caution!

So far what I have planned…

Not really much of anything!

All that I have determined---figure out a way to come up with deposit for DCL cruise #2!

Oh and that AP is a must do…Pirate night is a must do…the clubs for the kids are a must do. Flounders is a must do.

*quick—minimize! I have spies!*

Tuesday night was my monthly bunko night. One of the ladies works for DCL. I told her of our cruise and that we hadn't told the kids yet. She advised--to not tell them at all. It seems they love seeing the reactions of kids who just don't know what it is going on and then when it clicks, the amazement is just priceless.

So I will stick with the plan to not say anything until they realize on there own. Evidently we don't have to show the guard the cruise docs when we arrive, so that will be helpful and buy us some time.

In the meantime, I gave her my resume for when they start hiring again soon.
:woohoo:
