DW and I really enjoyed the new POTC film. After all the credits roll, there is a "secret" scene that in my view radically alters the ending of the film. My DW however, agrees its stunning, but doesn't think it makes that much of a difference.

How many of you out there on the DIS have actually seen that scene (after ALL the credits roll) and what was your impression of it?

Were all the pirates "re-cursed?" Or was it only the monkey? Did it bring all the other pirates back to "zombie life?" I've heard compelling arguments for both points of view. We SAW the monkey get turned back into a "zombie" so did anyone else?

Oh nuts, I meant to post this thread on the community board. I think I put this in the wrong place. Sorry Moderator person!

the 2nd time I saw the movie I walked in as the credits from the prior movie were still rolling. I may have missed part of it but all I saw was the monkey pop up as a half skeleton (zombie). Im not sure I thought it had any significance (sp) to the movie but then again, I may have missed part of it.

I think that the monkey is the only one cursed because the coins taken by the others had been returned, all the coins were there, and then the monkey commits a new theft, cursing himself.

But, if the others were no longer cursed by returning the coins, why then where they not freed upon the return of their own coins and not the whole lot of them?

Also, why was the governor's daughter not cursed since she stole the coin from the boy's possession? There are holes all through the story that leave way too many points up in the air. Mickey

I haven't seen the extra scene, so I can't really comment other than to say I saw an interview with Johnny Depp who said that he and Disney were discussing a POTC II so maybe it has something to do with leaving the door open for a 2nd film?

Ok just saw it for the fourth time last night. Here're my thoughts.

All the coins were returned and the curse was lifted. The monkey taking the coin only curses himself: new curse. If someone else comes along and steals the coins, they will be cursed. If anyone is concerned about it, Jack is headed back for his treasure and will find the monkey and take care of the problem, if there is a problem. I think its just a filmmaker gag to make everyone talk. But has nothing to do with the sequal at all.

Elizabeth was not cursed because she did not take the coin from the chest. When the pirates spent the coins the coins did not curse all the merchants. Will's dad gave him the coins, so Will was not cursed either. The curse befalls those who take the coins from the chest.

They were not "uncursed" until all the coins had been restored to the chest and the blood repaid.

stacy6552 I agree with your idea on the curse and how it effects who has the gold. What are your thoughts on Will's Dad, "Bootstrap" and his state of the curse?

I sent a PM to one earlier today, Darian.

I think Bill had 8 years to escape, did escape and did not drown. I also think there in lies the plot of the sequal (which hopfully opens with Will having some kind of guilt over lifting the curse and drowning his father).
