Second week in Dec - Need ADR's?

Hi. We just booked a trip (staying at AKL) for December 11 - 19. This is our third trip to Disney. The last one was 6 years ago and at almost the same time of year. We loved it because the Christmas decorations are up and there are very light crowds. Then, we had no problems walking into any restaurant and getting a table (maybe a short wait). Once we got there, I think we called for a few reservations later in the week (Ohanna and California Grill). Has anything changed drastically? Does anyone think we need to book ADR's for mid December?

Thanks.

Yes, that has changed. If you've read any trip reports, you will see that recently there have been many people turned away. Not saying that will happen in December, but I wouldn't be willing to take that chance. I would book the ones you really want to eat at and then play the rest by ear. Le Cellier reservations are almost non-existant for December, but they have had cancellations. Chef Mickey's, 'Ohana and of course, the princess meals are getting booked up fast as well. I think if you make them now, you'll be ok, but I wouldn't wait too long.

I would definitely make ADR's. With the dining plan and all the things going on in December, even the less popular restaurants will probably be busy.

-Character meals book up fast, especially the princess ones and Chef Mickey's.

-Any MK or monorail restaurant will be busy on MVMCP nights.

-Le Cellier is virtually impossible to get, especially with the Candlelight Processional package. Many of the other World Showcase restaurants probably are getting booked by now with the packages.

-Fantasmic Packages at the MGM restuarants go fast.

I would just make the ADR's and then cancel them if you decide later that you don't want them.
