Another long day gone in the blink of an eye.... I really need two more hours in every day. Three would be nice but I will settle for two.
Coming out of lurkdom to say, very nice! I have two girls who sing. The older will be 25 next month. She sings and plays guitar. The other is 12 and just sings for now, but she is also an aspiring
YouTube star. I'm going to share your channel with them. They'd enjoy it a great deal.
Way to go on the weightloss and your career!
Welcome to you (and any other lurkers)! We would love for you to join us!!
D'oh. Yes, the 60th anniversary hoodie is what I meant. It's really cute -- all grey with Mickey and Friends in their best blue and silver attire.
The run was interesting. After running the 5K with no training and pushing myself through this, the first day of C25K was really... underwhelming? I got through it and used it more to start pacing my breathing. Not trying to get around other runners but really taking that moment for myself to say: "Okay self. You're building up stamina. Go for stamina and not speed"
Underwhelming is great! You are clearly ready to do this!!!
Morning all! Just a quick check-in to say hi for the day! I'm subbing in K again today and will be off on TWO field trips! I see lots of apple snacks in my future today! That reminds me, I need to grab some cash so that I can buy a bag of apples while I'm there!
Got in 60 minutes of exercise last night....... feeling good about that.
TTYL......................P
Mmm. Love apple picking!
QOTD - September 17
Music! What's on your playlist, mixed tape, permanent replay? What gets you going? What songs leave you boogying in the aisle of the grocery? Power your through the run or ten extra minutes on the elliptical?
My playlists are also pretty eclectic. And usually up-tempo!
Current list of most-played (last 30 days):
Taylor Swift - Love Story
The Cure - Friday I'm in Love
Prince - Let's Go Crazy
The Ramones - I Wanna Be Sedated
Sex Pistols - I Fought the Law
Prince - Little Red Corvette
R.E.M. - Stand
The Clash - Should I Stay or Should I Go
The Bangles - Manic Monday
Cheap Trick - Surrender (tie)
Survivor - Eye of the Tiger (tie)
Shake it Off has FINALLY dropped out of the top ten. Unfortunately only to 12. And probably only because Love Story skyrocketed to the top out of nowhere.
Good for you with the shopping finds! Things to wear over an outfit that match are really hard to find. Especially when you just need a little something but not too much. My arms get cold in the air conditioning. So in November it's cool in the morning...could be hot late afternoon and then cool at night! My biggest issue is where to put the sweater or lightweight outer thingy when it gets too hot in the parks! I agonize over this...what to do?
I like a pashmina for the parks. Warm enough for air conditioning and chilly nights. Small and light enough to shove in a bag or even tie to a handle.
Oh sorry the shopping reference was for a prior post. And...good gosh...London! Exciting!
London is beautiful and one of my favorite cities! I'm excited this time around because I don't have to go - I was flying out, spending a day in meetings, and then almost immediately hopping back on the plane. Way too many hours in a plams for so few hours on the ground (and no time at all for fun)!
Thursday Morning....I'm feeling good. I did a weigh-in today...just wanted to take a chance. I've lost more weight! The increase in calories and added exercise is showing results. And....I'm not starving every single day! I've been hungry for a year now. So...got to be careful still. I did go to a luncheon this week with former co-workers. I knew there would be food...food I don't normally eat. I chose very carefully and did not overeat. I also had some dessert...chose that carefully too. She had these filo dough filled cups, very tiny, you can buy them in the frozen section already cooked. She filled them with cream cheese and natural fruit jelly, topped with a raspberry. Very reasonable calories. I think I'll make these for Thanksgiving. Anyway...did really well and did not feel deprived that day. So...September is looking good so far!
That's great! I'm glad to extra calories have you feeling strong!!
I am ashamed to admit this but nothing pumps me up more than listening to Donny Osmond sing "I'll Make a Man Out of You" before I begin my workouts. It's the best warm-up song because by the time it's done I feel like I'm ready to take on the world. Anything with a good beat will keep me going after -- anything Lady Gaga, "Uptown Funk" (Mark Ronson), "Shut Up and Dance" (Walk the Moon), "Starships" (Nicki Minaj), etc are all on my Spotify workout list right now so I can move to the beat and keep going.
Sometimes I'll take a dance break in my office during my workday. I often have the need to just need to close my office door, turn up the volume of Spotify, and dance it out.
I think I need office dance breaks! Tomorrow that door is getting shut and I am going to DANCE!!
Fun musical tidbit from my last Princess Half Marathon. I was just coming out of the backstage area and entering onto Main Street when the song "Feel the Moment" by Christina Aguilera and Pitbull came up on my shuffle list. I swear I did not plan it! It was awesome, and after my sister and I stopped a couple quick times for selfies together by the castle and by Buzz and Woody for our sons, and the song restarted when I got going again. It was just perfect. Everytime I hear that song on a run now, I can easily picture running up Main Street with the cheering crowds, and it is very uplifting!
That is an awesome story!!!
well my avatar is gone again....weird
anyhow, day 2 of journaling.. whew
playlist -- well I'm pretty much all over the board and love the new iTunes library and
amazon prime music for varying my playlists. but you are right...songs can trigger memories from awesome moments in a race/event; that one is especially a good one! I like anywhere from Prince to Nirvana to Franki Valli and the Four Seasons...just depends on my mood

and my workout playlist is definitely a hodge-podge for it!
Hodge-podges are the best kind of playlists!!
Monday my boss emailed me and told me that I need to do better about getting to work on time. I've known for a while that was coming! I am chronically late to EVERYTHING I do (but I read an article that means I'm more optimistic and a happier person, so does that make it better? LOL) - not hours or anything, but almost always 5-15 minutes late. Sometimes 30-45 on really bad days. I ALWAYS have the worst guilt about it, too, and it's frustrating because people just assume that if you're late, you're being rude or you just don't care enough to get there on time... But that's not the case for me!! But try as I might, I just don't get places on time. I've tried changing the clocks so I think it's later than it is, but that doesn't help, because I remember that I changed the clocks so I just figure out the "real" time LOL. Mornings are really rough because of all the road construction going on. Lately it hasn't mattered WHEN I leave my house, the earliest I get to work is 15 minutes after I should be here. So Monday, I took a different route, and clocked in 1 minute early! YAYYYY! So I told my boss so sorry, no worries, won't happen again - 100% meaning it.
....then yesterday morning I slept through 2 hours of alarms on my phone and 2 hours of the clock radio going off at full volume, and woke up 15 minutes after I was supposed to be at work. I ended up being an hour and ten minutes late yesterday, and I felt HORRIBLE because I had just gotten done telling my boss I wouldn't be late again. So I apologized profusely, told her what happened and that I was going to start getting to bed earlier so that I wouldn't run into this issue again, and she was a little perturbed (apparently right when she got in, someone had asked her where I was, and she didn't know, which obviously doesn't look good on either of us) but understood.
Oh no! On one hand I'm glad you finally got some sleep but on the other that is added stress you don't need! Does your work allow for any sort of flexible hours? I wonder if it would be easier on you if you had a later official start time.
Then there were a bunch of issues with the bachelorette party plans because fewer people are actually coming than initially said they would, so we no longer meet the minimum group number required for the painting class, and I didn't see a reason to have those few people drive in from out of town (most of our friends live in the town where we went to college, which is about 45-60 minutes away from Memphis) just to go to dinner for a couple of hours, so it looked like we were cancelling the party. All in all, I could use the extra weekend to get stuff done, but it still sucked. But long story short, the painting place will still let us do the class with the group we have (half the minimum requirement) but we have to pay the same amount, so everyone is going to end up paying more per person, or I need to find a way to come up with the extra money so that everyone's per person price stays the same. Double sigh.
Triple sigh. I'm sorry!
When I'm on the treadmill, I actually usually listen to a parks soundtrack. Splash Mountain and Haunted Mansion are just shy of a 20 minute jog! In my car, it's almost always on the country station, but I'm getting really tired of hearing the same songs 15 times a day, lol, so when I get to that point I'll plug in my phone and listen to Disney parks music on Live365 or a DisUnplugged podcast. Can you tell I'm ready for a vacation?

Just a few short weeks to go!!
