Sebastian's STRONG and SVELTE Under the Sea September W.I.S.H. Weight Loss Challenge - All Welcome!

With the next day or two being birthday celebrations, I opted to weigh in today. I'm a bit fearful what the scale would say after eating at Blue Bayou... not only is the food amazing but with @JacknSally 's point, you're eating inside a ride.

Weight: 169 ... down 2.5 pounds.
Progress: 5/8 or 62.5%

I think I may indulge and reward myself with that birthday dessert. I haven't touched my weeklies this week and I should enjoy a micro-cupcake with Mickey's face on it.

:jumping1:
You absolutely should - eat slowly and enjoy every bite. I want to see what a micro cupcake looks like !!

What are your one or two best tips for staying on plan and getting healthy? Any tried and true secrets? Special magic foods that fill you up and stop the munchies? Methods for getting out of bed and into that workout? Superheroes hidden in your closet that pave the way to success?

I wish I had something inspiring to share but the only thing keeping me going is that I am on my way to a better me and that Kate Spade dress! I visualize a goal and I stay on track.

I am such a chocoholic...I need to have a box of those 100 calorie snacks available...rice cakes drizzled in chocolate or chocolate covered fruit etc. I only keep one pack handy to avoid tearing into a second one, Lol. the rest of the box is stored in the basement so it gives me a chance to refill afterwards.

Hi all! I know I promised to get on here yesterday and chat.....:o but I LITERALLY spent 8 hours on my feet in the kitchen doing some batch cooking..... and this was AFTER shopping in the morning to buy it all! By the time I stopped to actually eat dinner at 9pm (and a well-deserved light beer!:drinking1), I was too tired to think!

And while I'd love to sit here and chat today, I've got a 3 hour WW staff meeting that is an hour away from home:car: to get my behind to today! PLUS I see things have been busy while I've been off, so of COURSE, the chatter is more than usual to catch up to! So fingers crossed that I can pop on here tonight to :hyper2: when I return! :grouphug: to all!............P

Updating my weekly update because I weighed in at 203.2 this morning!!! That is a 3 pound loss Sunday to Sunday! There might have been jumping up and down!!! I am now only about two pounds away from being just plain overweight! The dream goal for the month is probably still out of my reach but I'm going to do everything in my power to make that leading number change by the 30th!

I'm still too much of a newbie at this to have any truly tried and true tips but for now I know that all of the walking I do helps a lot. Carrots and apples are starting to finally satisfy my need to crunch (although I still miss the added salt of chips). Of everything though, not giving up after a bad meal or even a bad week is probably number one in my list.

Thank you for adding me in! Late in the month so my goal will be to lose 2 pounds. This week I will be more active by taking walks this weekend and will park on the 3rd floor of my work parking garage. :)

I think that is a great end of the month goal!

I'm exhausted !! But happy , cause I'm down 2 pounds !!

So happy with my 2 pound weight loss this week ! Totals 60% of my goal !!

Woohoo!!!

I wish I had something inspiring to share but the only thing keeping me going is that I am on my way to a better me and that Kate Spade dress! I visualize a goal and I stay on track.

Those dresses are so beautiful! I can see where it keeps you on the straight and narrow.

Busy girl!

So, I weighed in this morning and am committed to logging everything this week, good or bad. I also need a plan for working out this week. I generally average 2-3 times a week, maybe a walk, maybe a DVD. I need an actual plan and a goal, so my goal is to workout 4x this week.

Hey, everybody! Taking my lunch break to check in here. So, so sorry I was MIA yesterday... Thank you for noticing/mentioning me, though, @DisPup75 ! :goodvibes It was definitely NOT a Woohoo Wednesday over here. It was more like an Eeyore Wednesday. It was pretty bad.

[Warning - Mild pity party below!!! Feel free to skip on to the red section pertaining to today's QOTD - I won't be offended!]

Monday my boss emailed me and told me that I need to do better about getting to work on time. I've known for a while that was coming! I am chronically late to EVERYTHING I do (but I read an article that means I'm more optimistic and a happier person, so does that make it better? LOL) - not hours or anything, but almost always 5-15 minutes late. Sometimes 30-45 on really bad days. I ALWAYS have the worst guilt about it, too, and it's frustrating because people just assume that if you're late, you're being rude or you just don't care enough to get there on time... But that's not the case for me!! But try as I might, I just don't get places on time. I've tried changing the clocks so I think it's later than it is, but that doesn't help, because I remember that I changed the clocks so I just figure out the "real" time LOL. Mornings are really rough because of all the road construction going on. Lately it hasn't mattered WHEN I leave my house, the earliest I get to work is 15 minutes after I should be here. So Monday, I took a different route, and clocked in 1 minute early! YAYYYY! So I told my boss so sorry, no worries, won't happen again - 100% meaning it.

....then yesterday morning I slept through 2 hours of alarms on my phone and 2 hours of the clock radio going off at full volume, and woke up 15 minutes after I was supposed to be at work. I ended up being an hour and ten minutes late yesterday, and I felt HORRIBLE because I had just gotten done telling my boss I wouldn't be late again. So I apologized profusely, told her what happened and that I was going to start getting to bed earlier so that I wouldn't run into this issue again, and she was a little perturbed (apparently right when she got in, someone had asked her where I was, and she didn't know, which obviously doesn't look good on either of us) but understood. :scared:

Then there were a bunch of issues with the bachelorette party plans because fewer people are actually coming than initially said they would, so we no longer meet the minimum group number required for the painting class, and I didn't see a reason to have those few people drive in from out of town (most of our friends live in the town where we went to college, which is about 45-60 minutes away from Memphis) just to go to dinner for a couple of hours, so it looked like we were cancelling the party. All in all, I could use the extra weekend to get stuff done, but it still sucked. But long story short, the painting place will still let us do the class with the group we have (half the minimum requirement) but we have to pay the same amount, so everyone is going to end up paying more per person, or I need to find a way to come up with the extra money so that everyone's per person price stays the same. Double sigh.

Oh, did I mention that despite napping when I got home from work yesterday, AND going to bed about 1.5 hours earlier than I have been lately, AND setting 2 hours of phone alarms, AND setting the clock radio for the loudest possible volume it has, I woke up today 35 minutes after I was supposed to be at work? I was an hour and a half late once I finally got here. :rotfl: DH2B woke up the same time I did, which was 5 minutes later than his normal be-at-work time, but of course today he was supposed to be there an hour earlier than his normal time. I give up.:sad::sad:

___________________________________________________________________________________________

Are you familiar with the Sonic Boom alarm clock? DD bought herself one when she went away to college..... she, like you, can sleep through MULTIPLE alarms of various sounds and volumes and she was absolutely terrified she would spend her first semester chronically missing her first class of the day. She rarely NEEDS it now to get up, but likes the feeling of having it "just in case". They also sell a bed-shaking alarm clock (has a vibrating piece that goes under the mattress) that might work for you. They are both sold on Amazon, so you might want to look into them. And, FWIW, if you really sleep that hard, I would look into some sort of special smoke detector with a flashing light.... because if you can sleep through the alarm clocks, you could possibly sleep through the fire alarm/smoke detector as well.

Fingers crossed that things will improve!!

26 days til vacay!! :jumping1: Do you have vacation brain yet? We're 36 days out from ours and I sure do, LOL. Every penny DOES count. Pixie dust your way for fruitful work hours that don't leave you bald and tired! pixiedust:

HAPPY DANCE to you for your 1-lb loss, and your 3-week losing streak! :cheer2:

Thanks for all of the kind words! I was totally happy-dancing on the scale on Friday! I do NOT have vacation brain yet because I'm too busy working!! But I will get it....soon!

HAPPIEST OF HAPPY FRIDAYS TO ALL MY LOSER FRIENDS!

Boy am I ever excited it's Friday. This week has been soooooo loooooonnnnggggggggggggg. But today is looking up! Got a comparatively decent amount of sleep last night, so I was up on time this morning (later than I had planned because I was hoping for an overly ambitious morning, but still plenty early enough to get ready for work without feeling frantic), was able to pull out the piko and printed yoga pants to wear today (WOOOOOO for comfy Friday!), left early enough to stop by Starbucks on my way in and use my free reward on a chai latte, and made it to work on time! Plus I did all of my work for today yesterday, so I don't have anything to do for another hour or so when the mail gets here.
Plus, weighed in this morning at 200.6lbs! That's a loss of 4.9/5.6lbs, putting me at 88% of my September goal, with just 0.7-lbs to go. :cool1::cool1:

@courtneybeth I didn't make it down to 199 yet, but I'm 1-lb closer! I'm going to weigh again this weekend (probably Sunday, after I've been able to get a full night's sleep tomorrow) and hopefully my number will be even lower. We shall see! :woohoo:

Glad you mentioned weighing in again after a full-night's sleep..... because I was going to mention to you that NOT getting enough sleep can definitely effect weight loss! It would be so sad to put in all of the hard work and effort and NO LOSE just because you were sleep deprived! BUT WOOWOOOOHOOO on hitting 88% of your goal!!!

Hope the yard sale went well and you brought in a lot of extra HONEYMOON money!!

Kudos to everyone for all their hard work paying off! :yay:
I was down 1.8 at WW yesterday which brings me to a total of 5 pounds down out of my 5 pound goal for the month or 100% :jumping1:
I cannot tell you the last time I actually hit my monthly goal on one of these threads. And now I have a six week losing streak and going for seven.

CONGRATULATIONS on hitting your goal....and hitting it early!!
Yesterday was a little crazy so happy about my weigh in and then got that call no one wants to get "Mom, I've been in an accident." :scared1: Luckily everyone is okay and cars can be fixed and I had plenty of points for booze last night. :drinking1

OH MY, MY! So glad he is okay! What a stress moment for Mom though!!

I have a 10k on Sunday. This is the race I've been training for with my running group all summer. It should be a lot of fun.

Have a great week-end all! :goodvibes

Hope today's race was fun and fast!

Check in! I'm at 205.2 today, which puts me down 2.4 overall or 31.5%. 3/5 workouts are complete for 60% of that goal. That gives me a grand total of 45.75%. Woohoo!!

As far as the weekend, I had intended menu planning, grocery shopping, and a hike with the pup. Until DH came out while I was drinking my tea this morning and said that he might have inadvertently invited 15 people for dinner tomorrow. The house is a mess. The pantry is bare. The freezer is bare. Several of the people are vegan. Three are gluten free (including one of the vegans). And our friends are well trained that I do not do potluck. I like to entertain. I like to come up with menus that feed everyone safely and well. I like to do the cooking myself. But it takes time. And notice. And we both have to work all day. Tentative plan is to rush clean the house tonight. DH will sterilize the kitchen to get rid of gluten particles while I shop in the morning and then we will somehow throw together a taco party. Still I'm so not happy! Grrr.

Planning to get together meal plan and groceries for the week in Sunday, meet up with a friend for lunch, and somehow get Lexi at least a short hike so she doesn't eat the house in boredom next week.

Luckily, I already have our QOTW all ready to go. Just needs to be cut and pasted into place tomorrow!

YIKES! My DH would feel my wrath if he did that to me. I like to entertain (occasionally) too, but it is STRESSFUL.... especially when you have to think about special dietary needs!

With the next day or two being birthday celebrations, I opted to weigh in today. I'm a bit fearful what the scale would say after eating at Blue Bayou... not only is the food amazing but with @JacknSally 's point, you're eating inside a ride.

:jumping1:

Congrats on the loss!!! And HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Great Friday.....I am down 4 pounds for the month, so I'm at 100% of my goal! I went to the gym today. This was the joy I found there: I got a compliment on my hair. I gave a compliment to a gentleman. I talked to a new member and we compared workout programs. I got a compliment on my "pink scooter." All these little things can make you feel so good! The things you find when you are really looking is amazing!

OUTSTANDING! Another friend at 100% for September! This may be one of our most SUCCESSFUL months in a VERY, VERY long time!!

Thank you for the welcome. I really need to join you ladies here. I find this group very encouraging and inspiring. I just shared this over on the WW chat, but will join this group as well:

Hi, everyone. I would love to join y'all. I was at my heaviest weight ever after my 10 year old son was born. Yes, I'm going back THAT FAR. When he was 6-8 weeks old and I realize the weight wasn't going to come off by itself, I joined WW and started doing Turbo Jam and went from 215 to 136 and was in the best shape of my life at almost 40 years old.

Unfortunately, I hit a very big snag when I tore some ligaments in my hip after a 5 mile hill run and spent years going through orthopedic doctors, steroid shots, PT, etc. I became depressed as I watched all my hard work slide away and slipped back into bad habits, started drinking too much wine, and now I'm right back where I started and very disappointed about it.

I NEED to get back on the wagon, but I get frustrated as I feel like I'm starting from ground zero. Because I am. My slips always end in slides. I've signed up for WW again and have used the chat feature once to get back on track, but I have yet to stick with the program since I rejoined.

One thing I think that helped the first time around was that I had a great support group of fellow WW friends on one of my Turbo Jam boards. Not only were they having successes, but they somehow convinced me my goals were achievable. Having lost so much weight before, I know they are, but I'm looking forward to having some online accountability by checking in with you ladies.

After gaining some of the weight back, I maintained for quite a long time at 175 and a size 14. I gained another 45(!!!) after I quit smoking. So, at 46 with a bum-ish hip, my goal is NOT to work out 6 hours a week and weigh 136, but first just to get back into my size 14s. Then we'll see from there!

Welcome, welcome!!

What are your one or two best tips for staying on plan and getting healthy? Any tried and true secrets? Special magic foods that fill you up and stop the munchies? Methods for getting out of bed and into that workout? Superheroes hidden in your closet that pave the way to success?

Tips=#1...... learn to like fruits and vegetables and eat them... a lot.... and tip #2... if you say NO at the grocery store, you don't have to say NO AGAIN (possibly over and over) at home!! Secrets.... not really a secret because we talk about it in WW a lot.... but it is something fairly simple that really works..... TRACK YOUR FOODS! Magic foods...... soups.... especially vegetable and broth based soups.... super filling and satisfying and the portions are really big! For snacky/munchie type magic foods.... fat-free popcorn (made at home in the microwave in a brown paper bag).... super big portions/super low calories/PointsPlus.......and for sweets.... banana ice cream... all the rage on Pinterest not long ago.... basically just frozen bananas whirled up in the food processor or blender.... like super healthy soft-serve ice cream!

Methods for getting out of bed.... sleep in your workout clothes with your sneakers next to the bed! Once you get used to the feeling of being done with your workout before the main part of the day even starts, you will learn to LOVE that feeling so much, it really will get EASIER!

No superheroes in the closet..... just a reminder that sometimes a return to the BASICS of weight loss/healthy eating, can really give you a push in the right direction..... staying hydrated, watching sugar/carbs, lots of veggies and lean protein, and giving yourself permission for the OCCASIONAL treat/splurge!

Thank you for adding me in! Late in the month so my goal will be to lose 2 pounds. This week I will be more active by taking walks this weekend and will park on the 3rd floor of my work parking garage. :)

WONDERFUL!!

HI all! I promised to come back and play catch-up after my meeting and I've done it! The meeting was good, but a solid hour longer than it needed to be. We got there at 12:30 for a 1pm meeting (so as not to be late) and they didn't even let us in until 1pm and THEN they told us that 1 - 1:45 was "mingle" time! They've never done that before! Since they are paying us all by the hour it is usually "GET IN, GET IT DONE, GET OUT"! But since I know NO ONE other than my own receptionist, I didn't mingle at all. Oh well.

Can't talk about what was said.... except to say I'm EXCITED about things to come at WW!!:jumping1:

Off to eat my dinner! I ended up without any lunch (my own fault) so I've already had a huge bowl of steamed veggies to hold me over.... but now it is time for some protein!

I am working in the a.m., but I may possibly end up being able to come home early:cool1:.... but I'll believe it when it happens. And then tomorrow night is my only night off all week. So again, I probably won't see much of you all this week! So sorry!

TTY tomorrow!.......................P

So, I weighed in Friday morning at 283.6, so I believe that puts me down 9 lbs for the month, which is 90% of my goal.

What are your one or two best tips for staying on plan and getting healthy? Any tried and true secrets? Special magic foods that fill you up and stop the munchies? Methods for getting out of bed and into that workout? Superheroes hidden in your closet that pave the way to success?

Tip #1: Put it in writing. Having a plan in writing, something you can hold and look at before the gym, at the gym, or after the gym helps encourage sticking with that plan. Tip #2: Don't overdo it. Your body needs rest just as much as it needs to work; particularly if you are doing any type of lifting program.

The best snacks I've found that tide me over are Quest Bars (fantastic source of protein), go raw chocolate super cookies (they're sprouted grain cookies with coconut, dates, sesame seeds, and cacao), apples with almond butter, and simply drinking lots of water.

Since I work Front End shift work from Sunday through Wednesday 6:30 - 6:30 I have to work out in the morning so I can spend the evenings with DW2B. In fact, this morning I was in the gym lifting by 4:30. It helps that I pack my workout bag the night before with the next day's clothes and then put my workout clothes right next to the bed where I wake up and can get dressed.

In a way I do have a superhero in my closet. The pictures I have from college when I was training for bodybuilding contests and the knowledge that I can achieve something similar again. I also wouldn't mind looking like a superhero (particularly Chris Pratt or Chris Evans).

Thank you for adding me in! Late in the month so my goal will be to lose 2 pounds. This week I will be more active by taking walks this weekend and will park on the 3rd floor of my work parking garage. :)

Welcome to the group!

I love the tips! I hope your week, as busy as it is goes well, and we'll see you when we can!

Just a short hello before I dash off to work. But I have two great things to start the week with:

I am down 2 pounds now, which takes me to 50% of my weight loss goal. Considering that I started later in the month, I think I am very much on track!

And then for the first time since I got back home from vacation I finally slept really well. I think the time change (9 hours between here and California) really messed up my sleep. While I theoretically got 7.5 hours sleeping in bed, I did not feel like this was 7.5 hours of rest. Today I woke up and felt rested for the first time this month! Wonderful!!

MOrning all! I was hoping to have a few minutes to chat before work today, but I've puttered away any extra time I had chatting with DD on FB.... but I know you'll understand!

Hope it is a MARVELOUS MONDAY and the great start to a successful week.... no matter HOW you choose to MEASURE that success!............P

Morning and Happy Monday! I'm so sorry I didn't come back to post our weekly results and chat last night. I got caught up in a work crisis and am running off to another. Results will hopefully be up tonight!

In the meantime, let's chat!

QOTD - September 21

What are your greatest obstacles and challenges on this journey? whst see your plans for overcoming then? And how are you doing do far?

:welcome: webcreatix and jersey girl !

Magdalene I cannot imagine a nine hour time change! I've been fighting with a 3–4 hour time change from our Alaska trip and it's been just over a week & I feel like I'm almost back on track. Nine hours wow

Well I finally stepped on the scale Sunday morning, I'm up 5 pounds from my lowest point after our two week vacation. I guess that's reasonable, though it was a reality check of that I've been at this weight range of for over year and I need to get serious and bust through. Unfortunately, I am leaving today for a four-day getaway to visit with my Cushing's girlfriends, annual trip. The timing isn't great, but I hate to miss out on time with my peeps.

So I did the unthinkable and worked out on a Sunday! Because there is only one week left, and I will be gone for most of it and eating out, my goal this week is to not gain. I have to work out outfits packed in one of my buddies wants to work out at the hotel, so that's also my goal. My check is may be slim, but you are all in my thoughts

Qotd - Big obstacle for me is eating out, told DH when I return home at the end of the week we are going on a 30 day no eating out challenge. He gave me sad puppy dog eyes LOL but he agreed because he knows it will help me

QOTD - September 21

What are your greatest obstacles and challenges on this journey? whst see your plans for overcoming then? And how are you doing do far?

I really am not sure what to day my biggest challenge is other than the scale. It just does not want to cooperate. Despite staying on my nutrition plan and exceeding my exercise goal most days, the scale just is not budging. I am feeling a bit defeated and hopeless. I spoke to my doctor back in the spring, and she felt that the best weight for me was about 10 pounds below where I was at that time, which is about 14 pounds below where I am now. I have a strong family history of weight related illnesses, so she thinks hovering near the high end of the healthy range is not a great goal for me, because I am average framed, so I should really be right in the middle.

I say all this because I want to be clear that I have a reason for trying to reach lower than this point where I am stuck despite it technically being a healthy weight. I feel like I am doing everything I can. I can perhaps cut out some sweets and replace the calories with healthier options. But calorie for calorie, I am staying under my calorie goal daily, and days when I don't I am still eating less than I am burning, I am just not staying 500 calories under goal, more like 400.

I'm hoping this week will be the one where I see some change. I started and stopped so many times over the summer with trying to get back on track. I was just so busy that I could never make it more than a week on plan. So I am hoping now, at 3 weeks of careful attention to calories in/out and a lot of exercise my body will realize I am serious and start to cooperate.

Hope everyone's Monday is off to a great start!

Morning, team. I hope everyone had good weekends! Sorry I haven't had the chance to pop in and catch up - I've skimmed the thread a little, but it was a long, exhausting, emotional weekend and I just wasn't able to get in more than that. Everything wedding-related has been falling apart over the last week, and the icing on the cake was a big 15-month-in-the-making family blow up Saturday night... Is it too late to elope? :rotfl:

This was a weird year for our yard sale. Usually, it's wall-to-wall people and you can't move around the neighborhood at all. This year, it was dead. Totally, completely dead. Most years, everyone goes until the crowds die down or they run out of stuff to sell, which is usually 4-6pm. This year, we were packing up at 10:45am, and we still had 80% of our stuff left. It was so weird. Last year we made $1,050. This year, we ended up making $200, but we were thrilled with that because that's all we set out to do - neither of us were really feeling it this year, and we didn't put the usual 2+ weeks worth of prep into it, and 90% of the items we had out were his mom's, not ours. We set out that day saying if we could make $200, we'd be thrilled, as that would cover what we're expecting gas for WDW to cost round trip. We still ended up taking 6 or 7 bags full of clothes, purses, shoes, and odds and ends to Goodwill, but we just didn't care enough to stay out in the heat any longer for what probably would've ended up being an extra $10.

It's just a huge relief that it's behind us now. Even though we didn't put as much into it as we normally do, it was still a big event that we had to get through. Now it's strictly wedding stuff for the next month. Our countdown hits the 20's this week... Where did September go??

I think I saw that some people had already hit 100% this month?? Way to go, guys! So, so proud to be on this crazy train with y'all!

QOTD - September 21

What are your greatest obstacles and challenges on this journey? whst see your plans for overcoming then? And how are you doing do far?

My biggest challenge is just lack of time to do anything. I hate saying that because I feel like it's just an excuse, but between 30 minutes to work, being at work for 9 hours, 30-45 minutes home from work, trying to knock out wedding tasks, dealing with whatever errands/emergencies pop up, trying to spend enough time with my puppy that I don't feel like I'm neglecting him and he doesn't throw a fit and eat the house due to lack of attention, and trying to get any amount of sleep, I just can't work in a jog or weights or cooking. Even if I could squeeze in that 1-2 hours, I don't have the energy to complete it.

My plans to overcome that? Quit my job. Haha, no, I'm just kidding. Can't do that! My plans to overcome that is just try to make it to November and accomplish what I can in the meantime, and not beat myself up over what I fall short on. On the bright side, I haven't had the time or energy to really stress eat, so that's good. I'm hoping to visit Onederland this week. Fingers crossed!

*******************

Ok, I am interested in what is going on at WW.. I hope you can share it with us soon... Michelle

This month we are CHALLENGING ourselves to make real PROGRESS on this journey to be slimmer and healthier. Pick a goal (5 pounds off, 10% down, 10K steps a day, etc) and devise a PLAN to reach that goal.

Share your GOAL and your PLAN with us (no need to post your specific weight.... just your goal) and watch the color of your name change throughout the month!

PERCENTAGE TOWARD GOAL

1% -10%
11% - 20%
21% - 30%
31% - 40%
41% - 50%
51% - 60%
61% - 70%

71% - 80%
81% - 90%

91% - 99%
100% OR MORE!

It will be up to YOU to decide on your goal, your plan and to report your progress either here on the thread or through a private message every weekend - I'll accept progress reports anytime Friday through Sunday, but will try to update the list of participants every Sunday evening.

If you have multiple goals for the month (example: "I plan to walk 30 minutes a day AND I plan to drink 64oz of water a day") please EITHER pick one goal to use for your progress reports OR average them both together when giving your report. It's just much easier for tracking this way. If you only use one of your goals for progress reports, that doesn't mean we don't want to hear how you're doing on your other goals!
Please add me I would love to participate! I'm on weight watchers currently and my goal is to just keep losing and not gain from week to week. I also need to make sure to work out at least 5 times a week. I'm looking forward to what this group does. I am new to DIS boards but loving it.
