We are going to Disney in May with a 5-year old boy. Wondering if SeaWorld or LEGOLAND would be a better side trip? He loves Legos but I don't know anything about the park - is it worth it?
I love Seaworld but with a 5 year old boy I think you should go to Legoland. If you are signed up with them and get the magazine there are coupons for reduced tickets I have heard.
It depends on what your budget is like! My kids love Sea World and it seems that there's often a sale on Sea World Tickets. Even with the BOGO Lego tickets, it can be more expensive. We are doing LEGOLAND for the first time this next trip, but got a homeschooler rate so it's a great rate. Another idea if you can't decide between both is to do Downtown Disney. We show up at the Lego store at 10am every trip so my kids can build and do the car racing. It's free and we usually drag them away 2 hours later. It's not the same as LEGOLAND, of course, but it's a cheap way to make a lego-loving kid happy!
If both are similarly priced, maybe you could ask him which he would enjoy. Also consider when/if you're coming back. My kids are 4, 7, and 10 so we figure it won't be too long before they outgrow LEGOLAND. I'm fairly certain my 10 year old will love it, but I've heard of others with kids that age and it's mixed. So, if you're not going back for 5+ years, then do LEGOLAND now since Sea World is for both young kids and adults.

We are going to Legoland for the first time in Nov. Our boys are 6 & 9 and we got tickets in their Lego magzines and a Lego online game. We only have to pay admission for my and husband and I. I'm sure it will be a blast!
We HATED LegoLand and LOVED SW but depends on what you want in a day out?? LegoLand is VERY open whereas SW has a lot of exhibits that are indoors, gift shops etc. OK, we went a few weeks ago and the weather is probably completely different May & Oct but it's always worth considering as weather is not something you can predict in Florida by all accounts. Just my two cents worth but there it is
With a 5 year old boy definitely legoland! We live I Southern California so have been to both many many times. Hands down legoland wins over anything around here. They ask to go every year. They like it better than Disneyland actually. Teens wouldn't but it is the most family friendly park around.
