If you are planning on spending some time in Seattle before or after your cruise and are looking for something to do I highly recommend the Seattle City Pass. The pass is $59.00 per adult and $39 for kids 4-12. The pass lets you see six attractions in Seattle over a nine day period. We are a family of four with kids 13 and 15.
The Seattle Aquarium Wonderful. You wont see Shamu or dancing dolphins, but you will see wonderful sea lions and otters and a giant aquarium. We all loved it. We spent about two hours there and could have spent a little more time there. The cost for a one day ticket was $18 per person.
Space Needle Definitely a tourist spot but fun. With the pass you can go up twice in 24 hours (once during the day and once at night). Also with your admission they take a picture of your group (with different backdrops that you can choose) that you can email to yourself and two friends. Its a beautiful view of the city. We only went up once during the day, since we are on east coast time we could never stay awake long enough to go at night. We spent about an hour here. The one day cost for the Space Needle is $18 for adults and $11 for kids 4-12
Pacific Science Center Great! We really enjoyed the center. The museum has lots of hands on exhibits from dinosaurs to the science of fear. There is an outside fountain area that is not working but everything else is well maintained. There is also an IMAX movie, one about Louis and Clark (we saw this one, very informative) and one about volcanoes. We spent about 3 hours here. Again one day admission is $18 and $11.
Also in this area is the Music Project and Science Fiction Museum. We ran out of time and did not see this.
You can pick from one of the two of these:
The Museum of Flight or Woodland Park Zoo.
My husband and son went to the Museum and its a mini Smithsonian Air and Space Museum depicting the history of flight from the Wright brothers to the Space Station. It has a walk-through of a Concord Jet and an old Air Force One. They spent about 2 hours there but said they could have spent all day.
My daughter and I went to the Zoo. It was well maintained and clean. They layout was a little hard to follow but we enjoyed it. We spent about 3 hours there and did not see everything.
Argosy Cruises Sea Harbor Tour. This is a one hour boat tour of the harbor. My husband and I really enjoyed this; the kids were a little bored. The boat holds about 200 people, but was not full. There is a full bar and snacks (popcorn, ice cream) onboard. The crew is very friendly and gives a very informative tour.
I felt the pass was a great value. We took public transportation to all the attractions.
