Seat Reservations with UA ??

Hi all, flying from the UK to LAX via Chicago on the 28th, hadn’t realised that we could make seat reservations online, I tried to do this today but it wouldn't save them so called BMI who managed to reserve me 3 seats together (we have a 3 year old) for the Manchester-Chicago/Chicago-Manchester journeys but either couldn't make reservations or couldn't get seats together for the United Airlines internal flights to LAX and from SD? Does anyone have experience of UA and know if we should be worried about getting seats together for these journeys, I would prefer 3 seats together but if it comes to it we would accept sitting apart as long as it wasn't the other end of the plane and someone was sat with Tyler?

Arghhhh, panic mode setting in , never had this problem before, always got seats together without reserving with no problems!

I fly United all the time and have always been able to reserve my seats in advance. Have you tried actually calling United to check on seats?

I'm not sure how much more I can give...I've always done my reservations online, made my seat reservation and went....not sure why you wouldn't be able to do this...

Maybe it's a UK thing but BMI are my airline, think they use UA to carry the internal flights, I can get into BMI's website to book seats online but they don't save and indicate 90% of the seats are already allocated.
