This will be my first DVC trip in September, and before this I have never really had to weigh the options of annual pass, vs. length of stay tickets.
So we will be there from September 27-October 4th.
My plan was as follows:
27-check in fiddle around at DTD because we won't get there until afternoon and who wants to waste a park ticket for not getting in the park until 6 or 7 in the evening.
28-PARK
29-Park
30- Break from parks, at least in the morning, but probably not a park day because who wants to waste a whole days ticket if we won't be going to the park until maybe 2 or 3 in the afternoon, maybe even later. Maybe boardwalk or minigolf or dtd again...
October 1- PARK
October 2- PARK
October 3rd- Birdal shoot with Randy Chapman, lasting a few hours, but starting at 11:30ish so probably no park because we don't want to waste a whole days ticket for going in the park at around 5 pm. Probably fool around at DTD since its our last night and we don't have a park ticket.
October 4- Pack up and drive home.
**If we get an annual pass, I know without a doubt that we would hit the parks, if only for a couple hours on the days that we weren't going to go to the parks.
I feel like if I buy a length of stay ticket, I will only buy 4 days and a park hopper because I don't want to "waste" a ticket (at least in my mind) by only going to the park for a few hours.
This is where the annual pass comes into play. Since we are now DVC members we know we will want to go either in the Spring for the flower and garden show, and if not that definitely in the fall for our wedding anniversary. We could get a second trip out of the annual pass if we went a week earlier then this year in the fall.
My hubby works for a great company that will save us about $50 each on length of stay tickets if we buy through them, but I am thinking an annual pass would be better since we plan to go again within the next year. For our trip next year, prices could be higher for length of stay tickets, or the company could drop the discount, who knows dvc could drop the annual pass renewal discount as well, but then I feel like I would have gotten potentially 12 park visits for the annual pass price, and that makes me feel like I got my money's worth.
What would you guys do?
I am thinking the annual pass because then I know I would use it all week, even on the nights I wasn't planning on going to a park because I won't feel like I am wasting admission if I just want to go walk around the parks for a couple hours.
