I am back with another Day Trip Report! Here are links to my others:

Halloween Time Day Trip Report

I went to Disneyland on Wednesday, December 2 with my younger brother, Jacob. It was a pack-filled day because neither of us had been to see any of the new happenings for Season of the Force, and it would also be our annual trip to experience Holidays at the Disneyland Resort. Read on for my Season of the Force Day Trip Report!

My brother and I always discuss our goals for the day on our hour and half ride-up to Disneyland from San Diego. This time around we had a lot of goals.

My Goals:

  • Hyperspace Mountain
  • Buzz Lightyear Astroblasters
  • Star Tours
  • Star Wars Launch Bay
  • Jingle Cruise
  • It’s a Small World Holiday
Jacob’s Goals:

  • Hyperspace Mountain
  • Star Wars Launch Bay
  • Star Tours
  • California Screamin’ at night
We arrived around 1, and decided our first stop would be to get a fastpass for Hyperspace Mountain. On the way I got a a little distracted by all the Christmas decorations and characters dressed in their holiday outfits in Main Street.

We briefly stopped for a photopass photo in front of the tree. I took a magic shot holding mistletoe, but since I didn’t have anyone to kiss, I kissed the air. I find it funny that the photo looks like I’m kissing the nutcracker ornament. I recently did a blog post about all the magic shots in Disneyland, you can view it by clicking here.

For those of you who’ve read my other reports, you’ll know I’ve been into capturing the new Enchanted Windows in Main Street, so I couldn’t possible continue on without checking if any new ones have been added since my last visit. Luckily, Frozen was there! I’ll have to tell you that I found this window to be a little disappointing and not as good as the others. Now, I’m just waiting to see Aladdin! If you want to see the other Enchanted Windows click the following links: Toy Story, Peter Pan, Cinderella, The Princess and the Frog.

After our little distractions, we finally arrived at the Hyperspace Mountin Fastpass kiosk at 1:30 and got a return time of 7:30. We could get another fastpass at 3:30, and decided we would use it for Star Tours.

We then watched the Path of the Jedi in the Tomorrowland Theatre, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m not that familiar with the Star Wars movies so I liked that it showed clips from the old movies, and a few from the new. I came out with a higher appreciation of the Star Wars franchise.

We wanted to experience everything that the Season of the Force has to offer, so our next destination was a no-brainer. I hadn’t been inside “innoventions” in ages, and was excited to see the changes. The bottom floor is all Star Wars with costumes, props, merchandise, and a chance to meet Darth Vader, Chewbacca, and Bobba Fett. The top floor is Super Hero HQ where you can play video games, mainly Disney Infinity, and meet Thor and Spiderman. I asked a cast member what happened to Captain America, and he told me he had been replaced by Spiderman, and that if I see the next movie, I’ll see why. My knowledge of marvel comics is basically on par with my Star Wars knowledge, so I have no idea what that meant, but I’m assuming he dies?

We headed to the cantina to meet Bobba Fett. His line was a lot shorter than the lines for Chewbacca and Darth Vader, but he was a lot of fun! He would interact with the guests in the queue. At one point, he walked through the line, sizing us all up, and saying, “So this is what the rebellion looks like.” When it was our turn, he got a “transmission,” and disappeared for a minute. He returned, stared at us for about thirty seconds, and said, “Fine.” It was pretty funny. The cast members are all in character, and after the photos will say “scan complete.” I was asking another cast member about wait times for Darth Vader and he replied, “About thirty minutes. And I hope I’m accurate on that because the empire is really strict and they don’t want us to make mistakes.”

We left the launch bay at around 2:30, and got a Fastpass for Buzz with a return time of 3:05. We both wanted a little snack, and decided to try Galactic Grill. I ordered the BB8 Rice Krispies Treat. I liked that it had chocolate candies inside since I’m a sucker for chocolate. All in all it was pretty good, but eating the whole thing made me a tad nauseous. We had some time to kill before using our Buzz Fastpass, so we headed over to Frontierland to ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. We planned to head back to Tomorrowland, ride Buzz, get a fastpass for Star Tours, and then head to California Adventure, and that’s exactly how our plan worked out! Our Star Tours Fastpass had a return time of 6:45, which worked perfectly with our Hyperspace Mountain Fastpass. We got stuck on Buzz a few times, and I was right in front of a triangle at one point. My brother and I both got scores in the 500,000 range, the highest either of us have ever gotten. It was exciting! We also saw Strom Troopers running around Tomorrowland. One of them told me, “I’m watcing you.” If you’re a Star Wars fan, you’ve got to come; it was exciting for me, and I’m not even that knowledgable about it.

We headed to Cars Land to check out the holiday decorations. It’s decorated so cutely! I love the Car Snowman, Tire Christmas Tree, and Mater’s Christmas Hat. I also love magic shots, and have been trying to get them in Cars Land, but every time I go, it’s either nighttime, or I don’t see a photographer without a tripod. I was FINALLY able to get the FLO Magic Shot this trip!

We headed to the Animation Academy, and drew Captain Hook at around 4:20. Even the instructor said he was a more difficult character to draw, and I definitely had a harder time drawing him. Not my best work.

My brother wanted to ride California Screamin’ at night, since we haven’t gotten to in awhile because of the sun setting late, and it closing for World of Color. On the way we went on Ariel and saw a little of Viva Navidad. My brother decided to get pizza from Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta, and I wanted to get Mediterranean from Paradise Garden Grill, forgetting that it serves Latin-American cuisine during the holidays. I decided to find something to eat later. We rode California Screamin’ around 5:30, and it made us chilly, but it was cool at night. We then headed back to Disneyland.

I got dinner at Bengal BBQ because it’s hard to resist the amazing smell coming from there. We had some time to kill before our fastpasses, so we headed back to the Star Wars Launch Bay with hopes of meeting Chewbacca or Darth Vader. Chewbacca’s line was shorter (15 minutes), so that’s what we chose!

Chewbacca was a lot nicer than Bobba Fett, but I guess that makes sense since he’s a good guy. At the end, I accidentally started exiting through the employee area. Everyone looked at me, Chewbacca included, in horror as if I was a rebel spy trying to infiltrate the Star Wars Launch Bay. I realized my mistake, laughed, and went out the appropriate door. It was pretty funny, and only slightly embarrassing. At this point, I had become super excited for the new Star Wars movie, and pledged to re-watch episodes 1-6. I had not done a lot of the holiday stuff, but hey, this is a Season of the Force Day Trip Report after all.

We used our Star Tours fastpass. I loved the new clips, and the appeaerance of BB8! We then used our Hyperspace Mountain Fastpass, and let me say this: SO COOL! Way better than Ghost Galaxy. You’ll just have to experience it for yourself. My brother really wanted to ride Matterhorn, and I obliged. It hurt, though, but is cool at night. We were tired, and I had to work early the next morning, so we called it a night. We decided to ride the monorail, instead of dealing with the parade/firework crowd in Main Street. We got on the monorail at about 8:30, after waiting quite some time since they were only running one monorail. I think the Main Street route would’ve been faster, but oh well.

All in all, fun day. I love everything they’ve done for Season of the Force, and I can now say I have a great love for Star Wars. December is always my favorite time to visit Disneyland. I love the decorations, the Christmas Fantasy Parade, special nighttime shows, and holiday-themed rides. However, the holidays were overshadowed by Star Wars this trip, and I don’t feel I got my annual Disneyland, holiday fix. Perhaps, I’ll have to go again, and just focus on that, but maybe that’s not the problem. The castle doesn’t have it’s usual holiday decorations and there’s no special, holiday fireworks. I’ll probably go back soon to see Fantasmic before it goes away, hopefully do more holiday-oriented things, and maybe meet Darth Vader. I hope you’ve enjoyed my Season of the Force Day Trip Report!

Here's a video of all the things I did during Season of the Force. It's nothing fancy, but you'll see me meet Chewbacca and Bobba Fett, explore the Star Wars Launch Bay, and find Storm Troopers patrolling Tomorrowland.

Sounds like a lot of fun. I really enjoyed Ghost Galaxy so for Hyperspace Mountain to be much better that says something.

I assume the CMs comment about Spiderman is because he is rumored to appear in the new Captain America - Civil War movie which will be the first time he is in a Marvel Movie under the Disney banner

That makes sense about Spiderman! I find it odd because I'm used to seeing Spiderman at Islands of Adventure in Orlando.
