Tried to search since I know this has been asked and answered 1000's of times. Can I order off the kid's menu at Table Service restaurants? I still have my cocktail and wine but I like to have and app then a small plate. The portions are just too big at WDW and the kid's choices have long since left the uncrustables behind. Anyone ever been refused?

From what I could gather from a quick Internet search, the best answer I could come up with is "maybe."

At QS places, there's nothing stopping you from ordering a kid's meal; if nothing else, the little white lie of "it's for my child(ren) who's sitting with my husband outside" is all you need, and you probably don't have to go that far.

At TS restaurants, it's frowned upon, but there's nothing logistically stopping the restaurant from doing so, other than they just don't want to do it. It comes down to restaurant by restaurant, manager by manager, server by server. If no one cares, go for it; if someone working there has an issue, uh oh.

The best answer from 7 years ago on the Disboards came up with this response:

There is no restriction by Disney in ordering from the child's menu for anyone.

If you are on DDP you will, however, be charged an adult credit.

My wife always used to order the child's (4oz) filet at the old Concourse Steakhouse and would get the full child's meal, including derrest, for the child prtice.

It could have just been my server, but I was denied ordering a kids steak for dinner at BoG. I was trying to order a starter, the kids entree and dessert and the server said no. I ended up not ordering the starter nor dessert as I just couldn't eat it all.

It really depends on the restaurant. I've never had an issue with it before, but I'm a smaller 18 year old with chubby cheeks, freckles, and glasses and I look like a 12 year old, so I think they're most hesitant to deny me than they are somehow who they cane easily identify as a non-adolescent. I have also asked for larger portions of the kid's menu choices (and for an up charge) there hasn't been an issue with this.

I'm sure they know you aren't 9, even if you think you look 12. If they don't allow 10+ to order, they don't care if you're 12 or 112. How old/young you think you look really wouldn't come into play.

meh if it works in her favor go for it! (until it doesn't of course)

As PPs noted, it depends on the restaurants. Some will allow it. Others won't. You can always ask, but be prepared with a backup order in case they say no.

But I can see a restaurant being more lenient with the kids' menu age requirements for a 10-12 year old than with a true adult.

My dd is 18 and has never had a problem ordering from kids' menus. They may "modify" some of the kids' items by making them into an adult portion, etc or a small upcharge but never had a problem at MANY of the WDW restaurants nor did we get any type of "attitude" about it.

They either allow 10+ or they don't. Most will allow it, so those that don't will not show leniency. They're doing it for a reason. There would be no "sort of child" pricing.
