i know that it's been asked many times lately, but i can't search for the thread...

my sister is seeking employment and is interested in the disney stores. is it difficult to get hired there? what are the expectations regarding hours, shifts, etc? any clue as to hourly wages?

any help is extremely appreciated-having a family member working at the disney store is the next best thing to doing it myself!!!

As a TDS recently hired employee (seasonal) I can answer this.

It was pretty easy to get the job - it's obvious they are looking for outgoing people that aren't afraid to walk up and help people. A good smile doesn't hurt.

You have to be flexible and able to work at least 3 five hour shifts a week but may not actually work all 3. Pay is minimum wage, if not a little higher but not much. I suppose it depends on recent retail experience.

Although you should be aware that you may not qualify for her CM discount and she may not be able to purchase things for you. They are very strict with regards to discounts and consider discount abuse a terminable offense.

Jeff is right on regarding being a CM. I am a former TDS Manager and can tell you it was the best and most fun job I have ever had. When we interviewed we looked for upbeat, outgoing people. Being a certified DisneyManiac also helped
Each store is different as to their needs for shift coverage. Having open availability will increase the chance of getting a good amount of shifts. When I was seasonal I had wide open availability so I was usually the first somebody would call to cover a shift for them.
Unless the rules have changed, you would not qualify for her discount, that was reserved for spouses and children. I'm sure if there was something that you wanted you could arrange for her to purchase it for you. Just a word to the wise though, don't make the arrangements in front of a member of the Management Team. Discount abuse can be a terminable offense.
I would tell your sister to go for it, I have never regretted my 5 years with the company.
