Sea World: San Diego vs. Orlando

I am planning the itinerary for our October trip! While we have never been to Sea World in Orlando, we will be going back to Orlando in a year or two for Universal/Islands of Adventure/Sea World. How do the Sea Worlds in San Diego and Orlando compare? Are they the same? Is there a reason we should try to hit Sea World in San Diego?

Our choices for that day are between Sea World and the San Diego Zoo. We have friends in the area who are annual passholders to Legoland, and they really want us to try Legoland with them.

I think that Sea World San Diego and Sea World Orlando are similiar (I have not been to the Orlando park). Maybe you can check the websites to see if there are any significant differences.

I have been to both the San Diego Zoo and Legoland many times. They are very different experiences.
At Legoland, the kids ride most of the attractions themselves. Do your friends have a child the same age? My DD7 loves the rides at Legoland. We also love to go to the Zoo and Wild Animal Park. We love to watch the animals and can spend hours at Gorilla Tropics.

I highly recommend either.

I have been to both Sea Worlds, and while they have similar shows, the atmosphere and rides are very different. It's hard to choose which one I like better, but one of my favorite rides EVER, is the Atlantis ride at Sea World Orlando! San Diego is on the bay, and Orlando has a huge lake in the middle of it. The shark experience at Orlando is better, and I also enjoy the whale tank where you can see them eye-to-eye. (I don't remember San Diego having that.)

Tough choice between the zoo and Sea World too. Because you will be going to Sea World Orlando, I think I would choose the San Diego Zoo. That's a great experience as well.

Thanks for your replies! Oh, this is SO HARD. Tink, my friend has a DS who is the same age as my DD. I think it would be a lot of fun for them to ride the rides together. I just need MORE TIME. LOL.
