Planning on going to Disney but also Sea World for 2 days while in Orlando.
Haven't been there for 20 plus years so would like to know the best attractions at SW The website is not user friendly; much prefer the one for universal which we used last year and gave us a good idea of each ride
and attraction.
2nd part of question: we plan to leave Orlando and travel to Fort Pierce to visit relatives. We don't want to rent a car and have thought about taking the greyhound as the fare is reasonable, etc. however, how safe is the terminal for 2 women in their 50's. We plan on going in the afternoon.

any help would be appreciated ...

Hi WATERFORDGIRL,

All of my family is from new Waterford, do you know Ray MacIssac?

First question I have is when do you plan on going down? Sea world Orlando is building a new theme park/water park and I think its set to open in March of 2008. So if you hold off until then you could be one of the first people to visit this new park. They have so many attractions; it all depends on what you are interested to do. If you want to swim with the Dolphins and take a fin ride you should defiantly check out Discovery cove.

November 6th DIS-unplugged podcast featured information on Discovery cove, after hearing about it I really want to try it out. http://www.wdwinfo.com/disney-podcast/archives.htm I would suggest checking out the podcast to see if you’re interested is doing Discovery cove.

There are so many things to do at Sea world and it’s such a cool park, They helped me propose to my wife, I did it at the Shamu rocks American show on the big jumbo screen in front of 1500 people chanting say “yes” say “yes”.

Because I was so nervous for that to happen most of the park leading up to that day is foggy. I will ask my wife to come on and see if she can give you some more information she didn’t know that was going to happen so I don’t think she was as “foggy” as me. 

Hi

Do you live in N.W. now? I moved away when I was 20; I live in Halifax. Ray McMcIssac sounds familiar though. I still have a brother there and some cousins, etc. How old is Ray?

Your proposal to your wife was so romantic!!

We are going in early February so will miss the new attractions. What is your favourite attraction at SW?

Good point on Sea Worlds' web site way too much flash.

Build your day around the different show times at Sea World.
We had a great time there and went to every show.

The only thing we missed were fireworks at night. When we went before leaving the park they validated out ticket for an extra return visit. Don't know if that is still the case.

Greyhound has terminals in Orlando and Kissimmee if you are staying near WDW the Kissimme terminal may be a better choice. Here's a link to all of Greyhound's Florida stations.
Looks like the fare is $43 combined for the both of you one way.

In my opinion renting a car would be much easier for you.

If you drive at home you should be able to drive in Florida.

Here's an amusing article about riding inter city buses

Thanks for your help. The Seaworld info was great. When do they do the fireworks? We will travel by shuttle from the hotel so we might not be able to see them if it too late.

Enjoyed that article on bus travel. The worst thing that ever happned to me on a bus trip was that the air conditioning broke down on a 6 hour bus trip, which is not a huge deal in Nova Scotia but it had to be hottest day of the summer and I was travelling with a 3 year old..... I don't think we will travel by Greyhound, too much negative info. I don't drive but my sister does. She is nervous about driving in Orlando however, we are seriously thinking of the rental care scenario. We are now trying to think of an easy way to get out of Orlando to route 50 and route 1 so we can drive along the coast (by Melbourne which has a great zoo I hear).

We would like to have the rental car dropped off at our hotel however our hotel does not have a rental booth or we could walk or taxi to Inter. drive and pick it up there. Any suggestions re a good rental car agency - there are so many to pick from.

In Aug of 2006 at SeaWorld the Fireworks were at 9:00 PM.

If your more comfortable take the bus but sit up front near the driver.
My mother's friend who are in their 70's & 80's take the bus from Montreal to Toronto all the time with no problem.

I rent fromBudget. Book with a location near your hotel and call them directly to see about their shuttle policy.

Here's a link to Budget Orlando area locations.

Book early and check often to see if prices has dropped. Since there is only 2 of you book the smallest car and you will probably be upgraded to a larger vehicle.

If your sister drives at home in the winter she should be able to drive in Florida. No snow or ice in Flordia!

Thanks for the info. The lady bus driver (truck driver maybe from WWII) was great!!

If you book with Budget or one of the others, can you cancel or change dates, etc., later on? We don't go until February and if we book, how soon?

Our brother usually picks us up at the airport but he had a stroke last year in Florida (only 59 and in great shape) & we don't want him to make the long drive this time around although he had an excellent recovery.

What is your favourite thing about SW - I am so excited to go. Last year, my brother, my sister and I and my younger brother went to Universal for 2 days and we had a ball!

Have to run and watch Cornation Street!

The park hours that I was able to view indicated closings between 6-8pm- is their fireworks every night or how does it work?

TIA, Jen (a fellow Nova Scotian:cool1: - who recently moved to Ontario)

Our favourite things at Seaworld are:
1) Believe - killer whale show
2) Blue Horizons - dolphin show
3) Sea Lions Tonight comedy show
4) FREE BEER at Brewmaster's Club (Seaworld owned by Anheuser Busch)
5) Roller coasters - Kraken and Journey to Atlantis

Hi

I am not sure of the hours at SeaWorld; I believe it is on their site. I'm thinking their fireworks must be around 8 pm.

Where are u from in NS?

Thanks your the info. I don't think we will try the rides *Kraken for exampleL
At Universal, we did the Mummy's Ride and the Jurassic Park water ride and that was enough for us!! :)
