Scuba Suggestions?

we are going on the 7 night eastern. any scuba fans out there that can suggest/comment on the excursions disney offers or suggest independant excursion companies? also, if you had several nights prior to your cruise and could pick a good area (within a couple of hours to port canveral) to stay and do some scuba where would you suggest? anyone been to vero beach/is there good scuba?

My wife and I were not able to do a dive trip on the last cruise because our youngest was not old enough for the oceaneer club but in my opinion from what I read I would use Rodales site and find a local operator ... we just wanted to do a 1 tank dive so we did not really waste the day but we will be on the Eastern in Feb and I hope we can squeek in a 2 tank dive in one of the ports ... Good luck and let me know which way you go how the dive was.

St. Thomas is a beautiful place to dive---I'll ask dh who he used when we stayed on the island for a week. It was before the big hurricane hit--so not sure if they are still there. Have you researched with PADI, NAUI or even DAN to find operators in the area?

One thing you need to ask when inquiring is to make sure they know you are on a cruise and that you may be delayed getting into port or off the ship. Find out their policy on the subject.

We did a two tank dive at Coki Beach at St Thomas last Oct. There is a web site that I was hoping to give you a link to, but my search funtion isn't working. Anyways, it was only my second ocean dive, so it was amazing to me!! It is just a little shack by the beach, which you can access by taxi (there are a ton waiting for you when you get off the ship.) We had a variety of levels of experience in our group of divers, and all reported enjoying it. It was relatively inexpensive, the dive master was great and I would recommend it! If you have any non divers in your group, they also do a scuba experience dive and there is great snorkling, too!
