Scrapbooking Group - Paper Piecing?

Following on from Fiona's comments in the previous Group Thread ...................

Paper Piecing! ~~~~~ What is it, what do you do, how do you do it and what do you use??

I have seen it mentioned several times on websites and in books and magazines but really, a basic explanation (we're talking very, very, simple UK terms here girls! ) would be really useful

These questions just keep getting harder and harder!

Paper piecing is making a decoration for your page out of paper. So, if you were making Pooh Bear - you would cut the body out of brown card, then cut a shirt out of red card and stick it on top, then draw in the features to make him look like Pooh (IMHO the hardest part) - here's a pattern for Pooh Pooh Bear Pattern

You can get patterns from various sources- there are some on Two Peas (some are free, some you have to pay for) and there are loads of books with patterns in - or some people who are cleverer than me adapt colouring book pictures -

I have also made the Piglet from the 2 Peas site (note I don't buy anything!!)

There are lots of colouring pages you can find, some are here:

Find the SIMPLEST ones to use as the basis for a pattern, you can use children's magazines too (Disney and Me for example) That is why I've found eeyore and Tigger so much harder.

I made a Shamu from this pattern at Graceful Bee, very easy:

Those layouts are lovely Fiona, they've given me lots of ideas.
I've spent the last few days on the Two Peas and Graceful Bee websites looking at techniques and ideas. I love the idea of patchwork piecing on layouts.
