Lets see if we can get together a comprehensive listing of all your favourite Scrapbooking items.

What's good - what's not! ~~ Must Have's - Can do without's! ~~ Worth Buying - Waste of Money!

I am sure there are lots of questions we all have about Which Album - so this thread is dedicated to:

The Album!

What do you all use?
Where do you get them?
How much do they cost?
Do you need it right away?

The Album!

What do you all use?

I started with the WDW 4 parks one world album, which is a top loading album in a 3 ring binder - it's quite nice but the pages are not a standard size, so you have to remember to trim your card and use it the correct way up. It's also not really expandable - once it's full it's full.

I now use a Dalee album - they are the main album available in the UK, and I am very happy with mine - it's also top-loading (meaning you put card into page protectors rather than working directly onto the pages) and post bound - so there are small posts that hold in the pages, and the posts can be lengthened so you can expand the album if necessary.

Where do you get them?

You can get them from all the scrapbooking shops - I got mine from Scrapmagic because I was there. CM also sell albums but they are a different style- speak to Fiona for one of those.

How much do they cost? £30 approx

Do you need it right away? I think so - at the very least you need some page protectors from your chosen brand of album to keep your completed pages safe.

What size you didn't ask, but I thought I'd add that I use 12x12 albums, and not all 12x12 are really true 12x12 - the WDW one was 11.5 x 11.75 so not even square and very annoying! the other optoin is 8.5 x 11 which is similiar to A4 but not exactly the same - I find that too small, but some people love it, it is harder to get 8.5x11 supplies over here as 12x12 is more popular.

I can't add anything to what Bev has said, but I thought I'd pipe up and say that I have a Dalee 12"x12" album, post bound, top loading and am very pleased with it. It was £30, as Bev has said, and the cover is a Stars and Stripes design which I thought was very appropriate for my WDW layouts.

!2x12 Dallee post bound album for me too. Bev has done all the technical stuff in her usual thorough and efficient manner.

The post bound system allows pages to be moved independently, so you don't have to think much about order, I normally do 2 page spreads!! Strap hinge albums (like Westrim and CM) are also expandable, but the pages themselves form the album, so once the front annd back are "scrapped" you are committed!! I can't abide this method, but that's a personal thing!!

Ohh I love these scrapping threads, nice to see you on Yahoo Janice!!!:bounce:

So - pardon the possibly stupid question - but:

With the 12 x 12 Dallee for example, do you actually create your page, on paper or card, then slip it into the plastic? Could you put two pages in one envelope back to back?

Can you put your own covers on these Albums or do they come ready designed?

:)

Fiona - I am enjoying doing all this research, just wish I could get started, but I daren't begin any new project just now, so am printing all this info off and saving it................in an album!

Yes - you make your page on card, or paper and put it into the page protector (2 pages going back to back) - the page protector is a bit like the plastic page protectors you use in an office, but of a thicker better quality.

the benefit is that each page is on a seperate piece of card so you can move them around at a later date - so I am working on pages from all different years of Katie's life and when I have enough from the 1st year I will move them into a baby album and call it Katie's 1st year album.

The Dalee albums have fabric covers - mine is pink gingham- the flag album Carole mentioned is lovely too. There are other brands and I think there are some where you can slip in your own cover (like a scrapbook page but on the front) but I quite like the fabric (except it does get dirty - apparantly you can scotchguard it, but I've never done it)

other companys sell leather albums which look beautiful but expensive-and K & Co (also availlable over here) sell beautiful embroidered albums with a place for a pic on the front, I think I may get one for Katie's baby book when I have done enough pages.
