my DH (who is a closet WDW fan, but won't admit it),

100_1029.jpg

and me.

oh yeah, and a little un-invited friend that stayed with us the whole trip,

100_1199.jpg

Tropical Storm Fay.

Our (DH & me) Trip begins in Chicago on August 17, 2008 for a nice drive down to WDW with a few pit stops along the way to get some R&R from a hectic summer before the school year starts up again.

The Trip down is uneventful and very restful. so now to the good stuff....

CHECKING IN AT THE YC

A few days later, August 19, 2008 we are to check into the YC so I could attend the 10th annual sunshine state SDV (Scrapbookers Dream Vacation). but as we are driving down we are monitoring the whereabouts of TS Fay. And we were pretty rain free until we reached the Daytona Beach Area early on the 19th. By the time we checked into the YC the Rain was coming down in BUCKETS as BIG as BOLDERS!!!

So DH and I checked in, which was smooth and uneventful, we got a great room on the second floor near the stairs and elevator with a view of the main courtyard.

DH and I got our stuff together and went to DTD to get a DDE card and a little shopping in before we were going to hit the Adventures Club.

DH had never been to the AC before, so I was excited to take him there. I had to get him there before all of PI was gone. He had such a good time and now greets me with a heartly KUNGALOOSH! DH was a target for Beulla Bell most of the evening, so when it was her show, guess who got to help her out???
100_0859.jpg

Yup, that's my DH with Beulla Bell!!!

Then the next show was about TS Fay, ok not the whole show, but she was in the next song....

100_0847.jpg

Notice here on the map

We stayed for quite a while, but did not close the place as we wanted to get home (back to YC) have time to dry off from the rain, and get some rest for WEDNESDAY!!!

More in a bit....

ok, :goodvibes two of my favorite things in one place who could ask for anything else :confused3

But since check in wasn't for a little while, we headed off to Hollywood Studios, despite the rain. I HAD To get on Toy Story.

100_1069.jpg

we got to the attraction around 9:15 (yes, 15 minutes after the park opened) and the standby line was at 120 minutes and the fast pass return time we got was at 3:55pm---- so out of the rain and over to the great movie ride, only everyone else was thinking the same thing too!!! so we waited (INSIDE) for 30 minutes, and then went over to MuppetVision 3D, another inside place to wait. Well, by 10:30 we were soaked (even with the Ponchos) and decided to head back to the resort and come back later for our FP.

DH didn't waste any time when we got back....

100_0832.jpg

a sight I saw a lot of in the comming days.

So I went down to the convention center, picked up my registration for the scrapbooking part of my trip, and walked around the vendors for a few minutes.

back to the room, wake up DH and back to TSM!!! This time the rain had let up for a bit, so we made it back to HS with little rain.

100_0869.jpg

by 3:56 we were in our FP line waiting to ride!!!

100_0902.jpg

And it was great!!! I wanted to go on over and over.... but that wasn't in the cards for today.

SO off to the Convention center to set up my "Stuff" and I think I had could have won the "person who brought the least amount of stuff" award. :rotfl: But I packed and brought only what I knew I needed to do.... Make my Holiday cards and some Holiday gifts.

here is a shot of the crop room that Rebecca took

some of these ladies must have brought everything they own :rotfl: I felt sorry for the cast members that had to carry it all in for them.

I sat at a table with other DIS'ers.

At my table was BernardandMissBianca, BAMB's Mom, Lisa, Lisa's Mom, rlovew, and Dennise (I forgot her screen name)

Also next to me was pixiedustforever (Marylee), rgionet, sharond150, Diana Lyn.

Kim1964 and AlexWyattMommy also stopped by to say hi and eat breakfast with us.

This isn't my picture, I can't remember if it was taken by Rebecca or MaryLee or BAMB, but I love it!!! (confirmed- taken by BAMB- Thanks Buffy!)

Its rebecca, I think she wins the Scrapbooker who got the most done award. She was hard working and on a mission. She was also a ton of fun.

MaryLee (Pixiedustforever) was sitting at the table next to me and was working on a scrapbook of all the toliets in the world. Yes, I said Toliets.

Here is a link with more info on the Potty Princess!!!! The pictures don't do the scrapbook justice, it is AWESOME. MaryLee was a great person to sit next to, she was so much fun.

Well, more rain in the forecast for today, thank you FAY. and when I say rain, I don't mean the typical summer rain showers that FL has, I mean, Rain that will fill a swimming pool in twenty minutes or less!!! Disney must have some great drainage because all of the communities around the world were flooding, schools were closed, roads were closed and more.

I can not wait to read more. You are right that is the most interesting scrapbook I have heard about. I went over and saw the pages and they are amazing.

well, more scrapbooking for me, and more sleeping for DH. He said he wasn't getting wet without me (aaahhhh..... true love :rotfl: ) so Thursday, and Friday I spent inside and we only went out for meals. We had lunch in England, and Dinner at Ohana. DH also agreed to go to Breakfast at Cape May.

100_0926.jpg

100_0932.jpg

Did I mention that DH will not admit to enjoying himself at WDW????? here is his morning art at cape may

100_0920.jpg

then back to the scrapbooking world for me. More Rain in the forcast for Friday.

Well, what do you get when you combine 14 DIS'ers, who Scrapbook???

IMG_8000.jpg

A LOT OF PICTURE TAKING MANIA!!! The Cast members at Cape May must have had a good laugh after we left, we were picture taking crazy ladies!! BUT IT WAS A BLAST!!!! Here are a few shots, there are a ton more on the Scrapbooking thread if you are really interested.... but this should give you a good idea of what went on...

100_0979.jpg

oh, and there was good food too!!!:rotfl:

well, back to the Convention center for more scrapping!!!

DSC_0301.jpg

MaryLee and I went for lunch at Beaches and Cream but ended up eating food from Hurrican Hannah's.

Later in the afternoon, DH and I went over to MK to ride HM

100_0937.jpg

and yes, TS Fay is still there, we were inbetween Bands of rain.

then over to Buzz Light Year,

100_0945.jpg

and right next door to Monster's Inc because the rain had begun and it was really coming down...

100_0946.jpg

Then, back to Scrapbooking.

Since I didn't take many pictures of myself and my work (I think that is an occupational hazzard for scrapbookers in general) here is a picture of one of the cards that I made a bunch of for holiday gifts.

100_1206.jpg

100_1205.jpg

along with some holiday cards, which I'll have to post later because I haven't a picture of them yet.

I'll have to say, I was worried about the temptation of being so close to Mickey, and not being in the Parks, but TS Fay, helped me stay on track and get some cropping and stamping in. Not to mention the wonderful bunch of DIS Ladies I was lucky enough to sit next to.

DH and I headed over to Hollywood Studios early on Sunday Morning before we left to try to get on Toy Story one more time. This time, we ran to the attraction to get in the stand by line, we waited almost 45 minutes until it had a "malfunction" and they ushered out the entire waiting area.

we went outside to see about getting a fast pass and......

100_1082.jpg

so we went to eat. and yes, the rain had begun again.

we were walking by Hollywood and Vine and decided it would be a nice indoor place to eat and it didn't look busy. Inside we went, and it was virturally empty at 9:30 on a Sunday Morning!!!

100_1005.jpg

100_1001.jpg

100_1007.jpg

100_1006.jpg

Look in the background, its almost empty in the place. The characters, who I didn't know because we don't have little ones anymore, were very happy to have us. They spent a ton of time at our table, and our castmember was AWESOME!!!!

so after we had breakfast, we decided to walk down Pixar Place one more time since the sun was now nice and bright!

100_1014.jpg

The attraction was open and the wait was 60 minutes, since we had to hit the road today to get back to Chicago by Wed for me to go back to school/work, we decided that this was going to be it. We would wait, hopefully get on, and go home.

100_0881.jpg

so back into the standby line for us

100_0884.jpg

100_0899.jpg

100_0905.jpg

then by the time we made it this far....

100_1036.jpg

Mr. Potato had taken out his ear and dropped it!!!

we were afraid there would be another "malfunction"

but don't worry...

100_1037.jpg

the cast member was there to help a spud in need!!!

then we waited and successfully were able to ride again. I only scored a 149,000 while DH got an impressive 233,300.

100_1071.jpg

and it was off to the car for our trip home.

It was great to meet so many DIS'ers and get to scrapbook at the same time. I was happy to get to ride Toy Story Midway Mania TWICE, and even with TS Fay, DH and I had a good time, good food, and a break from Chicago.

100_0982.jpg

on the way home FAY followed us up almost all the way to KY!!

100_1197.jpg

This is a shot of the storm clouds coming in as we crossed the FL/GA state line.

Love your report.
Would you mind sending me your photos of toy story and us? It's my DISname at yahoo dot com. Thanks!!

Great job- Buffy took the picture of me working, I may work quick but even I can't take a picture of myself scrapping. I love your report. I will have to borrow a few out and about pictures from you- I didn't take photos around the resort.

rebecca

Great report! Does the scrapbooking event happen every year? My 14 year old daughter and I love to scrapbook. I think we might have to do the WDW scrapbook adventure one day. You and your hubby are very cute!
Happy Labor Day.
