Scott & Vicki's Art Deco Wedding and Disneymoon May 29, 2011 *Wedding Day Report!

Ahhhh I LOVE THIS!!!!! French Quarter is my favorite hotel--- it was the first one I ever stayed in when I was little, so it has tons of good memories. AND they updated the comforters since I was there in 2009--- they're SO pretty now, good for you! And the beignets?!?! Oh my gosh, best. food. ever.

And I TOTALLY bought that shirt for DF last trip when he proposed. :lmao: So excited for more!

I know those were seriously the best things to eat ever and the resort is so lovely. That is funny that you DF got that same shirt! We both thought it was so cute :cutie:

The resort looks gorgeous! I may have to talk DF into staying there in November if we go! ;D Depending on our funding of course!

The picture of you guys in the hotel is great! I love awesome CM's!! They make the Disney experience that much better! Unfortunately not every CM is nice. Wah. ha.

Those beignets or w/e they are look delicious! What are they?!

Can't wait to read more! And that shirt's hysterical. I may have to get one for DF.

Ah beignets....so tasty! They are a flakey warm hollow pastry. It's like a doughnut without the inside and they put powder sugar all over it. So warm and good :cloud9: You should definitely stay at POFQ such a quiet resort, you'll love it. I heard it was one of Disney's best kept secret!

It's great to see your POFQ pics since I'll be staying at POR! I really like Port Orleans, and will have to check out the French Quarter some day. It's really nice that it was so quiet and empty - you can see that there aren't any other people in your pics! Weren't those rooms recently refurbished too? So that must have been nice :)

The Magical Express sounds like it was useful... I'm just hesitant about letting someone else pick up my luggage! I don't know, I guess I'm a bit paranoid. ;)

When you checked in, did they just give you the happily ever after buttons or did you have to ask for them?

We took the bus by POR since the buses run on the same line and it's lovely. It's like the old southern mansions of New Orleans and POFQ is like Bourbon Street part of New Orleans. We wanted to walk over to POR, because it's literally up the street, but we didn't have time. We got our resort map and they connect and it looked so huge. I heard they have an awesome pool and food court up there and they have the only table service restaurant on property, Boatrights :thumbsup2 Yeah the rooms were just refurbished. I don't know what they looked like before the remod though. The express was wonderful though next time I think I will take my luggage on board. That's an option if you don't want disney to do it. You just don't put on the luggage tags and bring your stuff with you on board from baggage claim. We just put that we were on our honeymoon on our ressie and they had the buttons ready for us at check in :thumbsup2

Yum beignets!!! There's a place here, Cafe Du Monde.... that's what they are famous for... I love them! I haven't tried them at Disney yet but I'll have to check it out!

Kristi--Disney's beignets don't even come CLOSE to Cafe Du Monde's  But they are still good to consume when in the setting. ;)

Vicki--Good to see you already were showered with pixie dust! POFQ is amazing, one of my favs. Can't wait to read more!!!!! (AND read the food reviews!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Oh, and also, Jackie is right--the comforters look so gorgeous...the old ones were horrible!

Good to know, thanks for the info! I think I may do that - use the magical express but take the luggage myself ;) I think we'll definitely take a walk over to POFQ while we're there because I also want to try some of those beignets! Ever since I saw The Princess and the Frog I've wanted to try some :thumbsup2

Congratulations on your marriage!! The preview pictures are beautiful, and it looks like everything really came together perfectly! I also love your pictures of POFQ!

Now I will just have to go down there and try those ;)

I never saw the old ones, but I am definitely glad they have these they were so comfy :cloud9:

If you can get a chance I recommend it. I really wanted to stroll POR, but we ran out of time. I agree when I saw the beignets in the movie I had to try some at the resort!

Congratulations on your marriage!! The preview pictures are beautiful, and it looks like everything really came together perfectly! I also love your pictures of POFQ!

Thanks so much!

Day 1 Part 3 DTD!

Once we finished our yummy beignets we headed down to DTD on the ferry. If anyone is staying at POR or POFQ you have to try this thing, it's amazing and sooo relaxing.

SAM_0184.jpg

We arrived shortly to our destination after seeing some of the saratoga springs villas they are super cute

SAM_0232.jpg

While traveling by ferry we got an excellent view of the DTD and I snapped a shot of the new Characters in Flight hot air balloon ride. We didn't get a chance to ride it because it was too windy that day.

SAM_0187.jpg

SAM_0195.jpg

We docked and we were famished so I new exactly where we had to stop at for some grub, EARL OF SANDWICH! I heard so many good things about this place so we had to stop in the sandwiches were amazing.

SAM_0198.jpg

Once we finished up our sandwiches we headed out to do some shopping. We stopped at the Christmas store to get a wedding ornament.

SAM_0197.jpg

SAM_0205.jpg

We wandered around for a bit after that and went over to the art of Disney store, which we both love it's so awesome to see so many different wonderful pieces of art we can't afford, haha. After we went in I saw this and had to take a pic for Kristi and Jenifer who I know are huge fans of these

SAM_0210.jpg

These little guys were everywhere. When we went back in 2008 I never saw these so it insane to see them everywhere we turned, haha.

After going in and out of shops we stopped at Ghirradeli's for a sweet treat and headed off to the world of Disney

SAM_0216.jpg

where we saw LOTSO! and get this he actually smells like strawberries just like in Toy Story 3.

SAM_0217.jpg

SAM_0218.jpg

They also sell bride ears still here which I didn't know. So those of you who want them Disney still has them. Once we headed out of the world of Disney we took the ferry back to the hotel and stopped our resort restaurant to get our souvenir cups that came with our Dlx dining package. Here is a pic of the new cups

SAM_0239.jpg

We made our way back to the hotel to check and see if our bags had arrived and take a nap before dinner. They had arrived so I was relieved and I took a nap. I really wish I hadn't because I woke up really sleep drunk, haha! We changed into some fancier clothes and put on our "Just Married" buttons that I bought on ebay. OH and if you can get your hands on a set of these do, they don't make these anymore and we found that they get you a lot more extra pixie dust than the Happily Ever ones do. Once we put them on we got so much attention, but when we wore our Happily After ones into DTD no one really noticed that we were celebrating. Most of the CM's we encountered said that they had never seen these before and the ones that did congratulated us on our DFTW, we said we didn't get married on property and they kept saying that they only give those to DFTW brides now. Once we were all changed we headed out to dinner at the Poly! ...next stop Ohana!

I love downtown Disney! The Earl of Sandwich is delicious. I'll be looking forward to your food review to hear about it ;)

And I just recently started getting addicted to those vinylmations as well! I have about ten of them now. I can't wait til I get to WDW so I can get some more :goodvibes

Great DTD section! I have never taken that ferry, but it does look really relaxing!

We bought the same wedding ornament as you - I love it! :goodvibes

And I really like your travel mugs - I haven't seen those ones before.

Yayyy! You guys are SO cute. Can I just say that? SO CUTE!!!!!

I think that's so silly that they only give Just Married pins to DFTW brides. It's not like they only give the happy birthday pins to people who were BORN in Disney!!!! Oh, Disney, I will never understand your logic.

Anyway, excited to read more!

Yay Vinylmations!!!! I'm just so addicted to those little guys!!! I'm so scared of the amount of money I will spend on them when I go......

Earl of Sandwich is delicious. We always have to eat there!

Wooohoooo for Vinylmations! I've been trying not to buy any. If I go to Disney I know I'll be broke! ha. Yay for thinking of us! ;D

Earl of Sandwiches is DELICIOUS! Mmmm. Now I'm hungry. haha.

Everything looks like so much fun! Oh how super jealous I am! I love those buttons! haha. Our Just Engaged buttons got us lots of pixie dust as well! But Happily Ever After? Not so much. haha. Woohoo for us!

:rotfl2: I'm starting to feel the same way about the vinylmations! Especially since the parks have ones that aren't available in the Disney Stores or online... also, when I move in September I will literally be 5 minutes from a Disney Store. That can't be good for my wallet

We wanted to buy some when we were down there, but we couldn't find the perfect one so we didn't. Yum... Earl of Sandwich :)

Love how everything turned out. So happy for you.....

Thanks!!!

That's awesome about the ornament! It was really affordable to I was surprised, haha. I don't know how new the mugs are, but they are a lot better than the ones we got in 2008 they hold more liquid, which is important when you get free refills :thumbsup2

Thanks! I agree about the buttons. When you wear Happily Ever After the CM's don't really know what your celebrating half the time. The just married distinguishes you more I think.

Well you girls won't have a problem not having enough to buy there, haha! They are literally in every store, lol. So make you girls wear your buttons alot. and I know you have them especially you Kristi...

Hey everyone, I finally got the dining review started. It isn't much yet, but I got it going. I haven't got the link in my siggie yet, but here is the link, enjoy!

Aww, you guys look liked you had fun at Downtown Disney!!! :lovestruc:banana: I agree, I'd take a boat over the bus system any day...They're so much more relaxing.

And I feel like everyone else...vinylmation (and the pins) are the reason I'm broke all the time. :lmao: Did you end up buying any, Vicki???

Loving the TR!! :) I think I might need to join this Vinylmation craze... :rolleyes1

Haha... so those Just Married buttons are magnets eh? :lmao: Any pixie dust!???

Did they seem puzzled when you told them you didn't have a DFTW? I want to wear mine but don't want it to be super awkward every time?

Yeah, I'm wondering the same thing... don't want to have to explain the story of why we have the buttons every time even though we didn't have a DFTW?

I didn't get any though were really wanted some. We kept looking for the perfect one we wanted to buy, but couldn't seem to find it. Oh well there is always the anniversary!!

The CM's weren't weird at all about it. It just got their attention more. Most of them had said they never had seen them before and the ones that had just said those are special don't ever loose those because they don't sell them anymore. Not a problem at all so rock out those buttons like there is no tomorrow! haha and plenty of pixie dust, just wait until you hear it :)

Day 1 Part 4

We took the bus to MK and then the Monorail to the Poly to get to our Ohana ressie. This actually was a surprisingly easy trip. The monorail was amazing to take because of the awesome views of GF and it goes right through the Contemporary.

SAM_0251.jpg

Once we arrived at the Poly were were in awe of it's greatness! It's such a gorgeous property and we are really debating staying there in the future. Our ressie wasn't for another hour so we took it upon ourselves to explore.

SAM_0258.jpg

SAM_0260.jpg

SAM_0262.jpg

OH and they have an amazzzzzzing pool. It connects to the beach which connects to the lake and you can see GF from right across the lake. We even caught an early glimpse of the wedding pavillion

SAM_0267.jpg

So it was approaching sunset at this point and guess what we saw...Sunset Point! I do believe this is a new location to get married at for the Memories collection and it's absolutely breathtaking so for those of you think about this location is it wonderful.

SAM_0264.jpg

You can see the GF in the background! It so romantic up there everyone you have to visit it if you get a chance.

SAM_0263.jpg

After we left the beach we went inside to find an outlet because of all times my camera was dying. We found a nice little spot and charged it and headed up to check in. We checked in and I requested a fireworks viewing table. We waited about 10 mins and before we new it we were seating and at the fireworks viewing table! :woohoo:

SAM_0268.jpg

The restaurant is very lovely and we got a great spot by the window except for a little tree, but other than that we were good :thumbsup2 We weren't seated very long and then the food began to poor in. This is a family style restaurant so they just keep bringing you out food until you stop them, lol. I won't spend too much time talking about the food because I am doing a food review on it, but here is a sample

SAM_0285.jpg

After we were stuffed a lovely man with a ukalali came out and invited all the couples to come out on the middle of the floor.

SAM_0280.jpg

He played a romantic song and gave us all leis while we slow danced. It was so much fun! Shortly after the the water parade started on the lake.

SAM_0277.jpg

After the water parade wishes started soon after. They turned down the lights and drummed the music in and Wishes began.

SAM_0298.jpg

SAM_0296.jpg

Once the lights came back on our service brought us these!

SAM_0290.jpg

ah more pixie dust! She wished us a happy honeymoon and then we headed out of the Poly, ending a wonderful evening at a beautiful restaurant and resort!
