I admit, I'm not very good in the Mansion Game (or Pirates, but I do OK on Fireworks) but last night when I was playing the Mansion, I had managed to capture 25 ghosts. I would have picked up a few more, but my character just didn't want to go where I was clicking.

Anyhoo, when I was finished, the 1st message screen that pops up says I got 40 credits for playing, then a 2nd message came up saying I got 5 credits a ghost, for 125 additional.

My question is regarding the 1st message. Is this the credit I get for turning the other contestant back into a human or something else? If it was for saving the other person, how many points so you get? I figured I only helped her (him) 2-3 times as we were usually on different sides of the floor.

You got the 40 credit 'Win" credits (there are bonuses at 5, 10, 50, 100, etc).
Then the 125 is your actual 'got ghosts' credits of 5 credits per ghost.

The pop up message saying you got 40 extra credits is for winning the game.
When your change your opponent back to his or her color, you recieve 2 points instead of 1. Hope this helps!:)

but you do not get any credits for turning your opponent back. Credits are awarded only for actual ghosts.

Yes I know, I said you get 2 points for turning opponents back to his or her color, not credits. So at the end of game if i have 10 points, be it from just getting ghosts, or turning opponent back and ghosts, I will recieve 25 credits.

Just wanted to let the OP know, clicking does not matter in the HM game, your charachter goes to where the mouse pointer is.

But, as one of the better players (I helped no less than 40 people get through the mansion part of the quest this weekend) - do NOT use the mouse to control your charachter, use the arrow keys. It will feel funny at first, but once you get comfortable, you will do MUCH better.

Yes. You are awarded only for the actual ghosts caught. The points for catching the opponents are only for helping to win the game its self.

Also: hightp, you said you were clicking where you wanted to go. Don't click. All you do in mansion is click once at the beginning of the round. Then just move your pointed a little ahead of where you want to go. Clicking will shut off the mouse control and move over to the arrow keys control. Clicking again will shut off the arrow keys control and move it back to the mouse.

Really? I've tried with the arrow keys and got almost nowhere. I'm actually much better with the mouse.

I have also tried the arrows, and they do not work for me. I have better luck with the mouse. I click only once, then I just move the mouse around in the direction I want my character to move.

I just wanted to clarify my understanding of the scoring for this game. The first message you got was the 40 credits for winning the game(having more total ghosts at the end than your opponent) The second message is the credits you get for each "real" ghost you caught(you get no credits for the 2 ghosts added to your score for changing your opponet back).

For example you caught 50 "real" ghosts and changed your opponent back 5 times for a total number of ghost caught of 60, but the second message will say you got 250(50 ghost x 5credits per ghost) credits for ghosts caught. Even though you caught 60 total ghosts you only get credits for the 50 "real" ghosts.

If I'm wrong please correct me, this is how I've always understood it to be.

Also I find it easier to use the arrow keys to move rather than the mouse.

I'd like to add another haunted mansion tip. While playing fireworks I jack my mouse pointer speed up to the max. If I play mansion without bringing my mouse pointer speed down a notch, I have a more challenging time controlling my character.

So, if any of you have trouble controlling your character in the mansion game. Try slowing the mouse pointer speed. It might help.

Zero credits for changing a player from a ghost back to normal. However, each time you change a player from a ghost back to normal your round score increases by 2 points. This may ultimately help you win the game.

Five credits for catching a gost.

Bonuses are awarded in a separate message after the game. As previously stated the most common bonus is 40 credits for winning a game. The best bonus is 2,000 credits. I believe it is given for every 50 wins.

Yes indeed it works much better! lol When I started VMK I was on an old slow computer, and either didn't read the instructions that you could move just the mouse with out clicking or it just didn't work on that dratted computer.;)
It wasn't until my sister pointed it out to me after I complained how bad my hand hurt from clicking so much! She had read them and played thay way and certainly outdistanced me as a mansion player.:lmao:
Definitely try that option, it's located on the bottom of the page. BTW, I have finally gotten way better than i was. I can outrun a few of those pesky ghosts now!;)

It take s a little practice, but once you get the hang of it, you will add about 50% to your score.

My best in a 1 on 1 game is 135 ghosts. (paid ghosts)

Again, it takes practice, but you will add alot to your score once you get the hang of the keys. Everyone I have trained to use keys winds up getting a MUCH better score than before, no matter how good they were.

Thanks for all the tips and the instructions.

I didn't realize I didn't have to click the mouse (like in fireworks). Maybe I'll get my score up.

I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks.
