Scooters @ Restaurants Question

I'm having a bit of an issue putting wheelchair accessability on my reservations. My mother is able to walk (just not far, or up/down stairs) but she could walk to her table if we needed it. Is there anywhere to park her scooter and walk to the table, or will she just scoot right to it? I'm mostly worried about Coral Reef because I know that has different levels.

We have reservations at:
Sci-Fi
CRT
Sanaa
Chef de France
Coral Reef
Chef Mickeys
Wolfgang Puck
Rose & Crown

We do put it on our reservation because DD can’t get out of her wheelchair.

We also mention it when we check in for our ADRs. That is the more important place to mention it since the table will actually be assigned at that point.
CRT also has different levels - only down a step or 2, but still down.

Let them know when you check in how far she can walk (such as “she can walk 20 feet, but no stairs”) and they should be able to assign a table where she could scoot to the general area and then walk. Or, she may be able to pull up close, transfer to a chair and then have another member of you party move the scooter away for her.
Whether she can scoot right to the table will depend on the restaurant and how close together the tables are, the size of her scooter and how comfortable she feels maneuvering it in restaurants.
Most people with scooters do choose to transfer to a chair since it can be hard to get the scooter seat to a comfortable distance from the table.

Some places have you park the scooter outside, but be aware of the need to protect it just in case it rains while you are eating. Some people have come back to a wet scooter seat.

close by, but not actually go to a table with them. If the restaurant has an inside lobby big enough then you can park the scooter inside. Coral Reef has a big lobby. You will probably see where others park their scooter there. In Coral Reef just go for the top row of tables; so, you won't have to do a lot of stairs.

At Chef de France you should park outside, but don't get in the way of the fountain area or the live entertainment that takes place outside the restaurant. The CMs could move your scooter if you are in the way. I have never seen a scooter in this restaurant.

I believe it will be the same for CRT; no scooters allowed inside.

You really don't even want to try in a restaurant to bring a scooter all the way in. The tables are too close together and there are waiters and people moving around all the time. Most restaurants do not have the room for you to park a scooter in the restaurant.

There have been a few QS places where you may be able to do a scooter inside, but even then it's difficult.

I think once you check in you should guide the restaurant towards what you need to help your mom best. Holding her along side you may help her balance and so forth.

The check in for CRT is on ground floor, but the restaurant is upstairs, inside the castle.
There is a small evevator to get up there for people who can't do stairs.
I agree that I think scooters are probably not allowed - and probably would not fit in the elevator.

We ( of course ) bring DD's wheelchair inside the restaurants since she can't walk. I have seen ECVs in restaurants, but it is very tight, so they would pretty much say no, unless the person can't walk at all.

DH and I ate at Chef de France without DD. It would have been very tight with her wheelchair and I'm not sure how far into the restaurant we could have gotten. When I went to the restroom, I saw a woman assisting her DH to get into the men's room with an ECV. I have no idea where they had come from.

Thanks for the help guys! I'm sure she will be just fine walking a short distance in the restaurant, and thats probably what she would prefer. I was worried that there wouldn't be anywhere for her to park the scooter outside of the dining area, but from reading here, it seems to be the opposite. Thanks again for the info - you can't find this stuff out by calling WDW, so its really appreciated!

I would ride my scooter to the table then DH would move it to the lobby/stroller parking area.
