Scooter Questions

I've injured my foot and may need a scooter for our June trip. I have a few questions...

1. I'm doing a split stay- Hyatt Place and Disneyland Hotel. Do most companies just let you take the scooter to the new hotel, or would I need to return it and get a new one?

2. How would it be riding a scooter all the way from Hyatt Place, will the batteries last all day if I'm using that much just to go back and forth to the hotel?

3. Can I easily bring a scooter onto the Toy Story shuttle?

4. Do the scooters usually have decent back support? I usually sit in chairs that are practically at a right angle. Leaning back at all is very uncomfortable.

5. Can I just plug a scooter in with a regular outlet in my hotel room?

6. Can I bring a scooter on the monorail?

7. It seems like most people like Deckert or Select scooters, right?

I looked at other scooter threads but didn't find all the information I'm looking for. If anyone has answers for even one of them please let me know. I'm so stressed about the scooter, I'm trying to figure it all out ahead of time. I'm mostly worrying about running over someone's ankles. I'd put the trip off until my foot is better, but since we've had to cancel and re-plan like 12 times since November 2019 I'm determined to make this work.

I’ve used an ECV a few times due to foot injuries. I can answer a few of your questions.

4. IIRC the back support is not great. I usually sit up straight while riding and my back doesn’t really touch the back of the seat. I didn’t find it to be uncomfortable. (You can probably adjust it but I can’t remember.)

5. Yep

6. Yes, but it’s a bit of a production as they bring out a ramp, and then they have you back into the car so you can exit facing forward. (At least this was the case a few years ago.) I found it a little stressful to maneuver with everyone watching and waiting for me!

7. I’ve always used Deckert and had a good experience every time except the last, June 2021. The ECV was super beat up and the steering wheel column wouldn’t stay in the position I set it. I’m sure they would have switched it out but I didn’t want to take the time to deal with it.

I would say don’t worry about driving it or hitting anyone’s ankles! The non-Disney ones are really easy to maneuver and even leaving the parks in a huge crowd you can drive very slow so you don’t run into anyone. Do look out for people (often kids) that will suddenly dart out in front of you. If you’re not going fast it is easy to stop. Just stay vigilant and you’ll be fine!

Thank you so much for the detailed reply! Maybe if I end up using the scooter I'll try to stay at a closer hotel so I don't need to deal with the shuttle. Even if I don't want to use it, others in my party might. I was thinking I could try practicing driving one at a local grocery store or watch youtube videos. I'll also bring a back cushion just in case.
