Mom had a stroke in feburary. She can walk, and speech is limited (but coming back) but her right arm is basically useless. She has full control of her left arm and hand.

I intend to rent her a scooter, but I need to know will she be able to drive the scooter just using her left hand?

thanks John

The small Pride Go Go Traveler Elite Plus models can be driven using either hand. I believe that Apple Scooters rent those.

Has she used one before?
Do you have a store near by that you can "test" drive one? This way you will know before you get there, if it will work for her.

My DMIL had a stroke many 14 years ago. She can walk, but it not stable and tires easily. When she first tried a scooter it was very confusing to her  and dangerous for everyone around her...lol. She does better in her own wheelchair.

It might be difficult. I have driven a GoGo for many years at home and it is still a little tricky to use just one hand if I have something in the other. Plus with an ECV you have to be constantly alert for people darting in front of you. It happens many times a day and is very stressful. I am not sure an ECV would be the right thing for her to use.
